祸哉！那与他的塑造者争论的！他不过是地上瓦片中的片瓦。难道陶泥能对陶匠说：“你做的是什么东西？你做的怎么没有把手呢？”

禍哉，那與造他的主爭論的！他不過是地上瓦片中的一塊瓦片。泥土豈可對摶弄它的說：你做甚麼呢？所做的物豈可說：你沒有手呢？

『有禍啊，那跟塑造他、的主爭論的！瓦器跟摶土者計較的！泥土哪能對塑造它的說：「你在作甚麼？」或是說：「你所作的沒有把手呀」？

禍哉！那與他的塑造者爭論的！他不過是地上瓦片中的片瓦。難道陶泥能對陶匠說：「你做的是什麼東西？你做的怎麼沒有把手呢？」

土壤瓦礫中之片瓦、與造之者爭辯、其有禍矣、塗泥豈能謂陶人曰、爾何為乎、所造之物豈得曰、彼無手乎、

人若陶器、居於土壤、如與造化主爭、禍必及之。譬諸塗泥、豈能謂陶人曰、奚造我若此、受造之物、豈能謂造之者、毫無技能。

世人如地上瓦礫中之瓦片、欲與造之之主爭、禍必及之、泥豈能謂陶人曰、爾何為乎、被製之物豈能對製者曰、非經爾手、非經爾手或作爾無手也

“ Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter,‘ What are you making?’ Does your work say,‘ The potter has no hands’?

How terrible it will be for anyone who argues with their Maker! They are like a broken piece of pottery lying on the ground. Does clay say to a potter,“ What are you making?” Does a pot say,“ The potter doesn’t have any skill”?

“ Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it,‘ What are you making?’ or‘ Your work has no handles’?

“ What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,‘ Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim,‘ How clumsy can you be?’

“ Woe to the one who argues with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it,‘ What are you making?’ Or does your work say,‘ He has no hands’?

“ Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker— A piece of pottery among the other earthenware pottery pieces! Will the clay say to the potter,‘ What are you doing?’ Or the thing you are making say,‘ He has no hands’?

“ Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it,‘ What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say,‘ He has no hands’?

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! a potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

“ Woe to the one who argues with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it,‘ What are you making?’ Or does your work say,‘ He has no hands’?

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker![ Let] the potsherd[ strive] with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

One who argues with his creator is in grave danger, one who is like a mere shard among the other shards on the ground! The clay should not say to the potter,“ What in the world are you doing? Your work lacks skill!”

Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it,‘ What are you making?’ or your work,‘ He has no hands?’

But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?“ Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,‘ Why did you make me like this?’”Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? (niv)

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (niv)

He said,“ Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord.“ Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. (niv)

But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go. (niv)

I set a trap for you, Babylon, and you were caught before you knew it; you were found and captured because you opposed the Lord. (niv)

You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter,“ You know nothing”? (niv)

Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it, or the saw boast against the one who uses it? As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up, or a club brandish the one who is not wood! (niv)

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. (niv)

“ Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? (niv)

Distress and anguish fill him with terror; troubles overwhelm him, like a king poised to attack,because he shakes his fist at God and vaunts himself against the Almighty,defiantly charging against him with a thick, strong shield. (niv)

The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,“ Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me,“ You are my son; today I have become your father.Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” (niv)

Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he? (niv)
