Your first father sinned; those I sent to teach you rebelled against me.

Your father Jacob sinned. The people I sent to teach you refused to obey me.

Your first father sinned, and your mediators transgressed against me.

From the very beginning, your first ancestor sinned against me; all your leaders broke my laws.

The father of your nation sinned; your spokesmen rebelled against me.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?

They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment.

and say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says to Jerusalem:“ Your origin and your birth is of the land of the Canaanite. An Amorite was your father, and your mother was a Hittite.

Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

His watchmen are blind. They are all without knowledge. They are all mute dogs. They can’t bark— dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber.Yes, the dogs are greedy. They can never have enough. They are shepherds who can’t understand. They have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.“ Come,” say they,“ I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be as today, great beyond measure.”

Likewise the chief priests also mocking, with the scribes, the Pharisees, and the elders, said,

It is because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, That have shed the blood of the just in the middle of her.They wander as blind men in the streets. They are polluted with blood, So that men can’t touch their garments.

We have sinned with our fathers. We have committed iniquity. We have done wickedly.Our fathers didn’t understand your wonders in Egypt. They didn’t remember the multitude of your loving kindnesses, but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

Don’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Yahweh of Armies says,‘ Return now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings;’ but they didn’t hear, nor listen to me, says Yahweh.Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers?“ Then they repented and said,‘ Just as Yahweh of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’”

From the days of your fathers you have turned away from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of Armies.“ But you say,‘ How shall we return?’

“ Behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to increase the fierce anger of Yahweh toward Israel.

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.

“ You stiff- necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.

and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him( which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousyand laid hands on the apostles, then put them in public custody.

The elder and the honorable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.

Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed Yahweh our God’s voice.”

for both prophet and priest are profane. Yes, in my house I have found their wickedness,” says Yahweh.Therefore their way will be to them as slippery places in the darkness. Therefore as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; so death passed to all men, because all sinned.

There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it.Her priests have done violence to my law, and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they caused men to discern between the unclean and the clean, and have hidden their eyes from my Sabbaths. So I am profaned among them.Her princes within it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.Her prophets have plastered for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying,‘ The Lord Yahweh says,’ when Yahweh has not spoken.

But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them,“ You know nothing at all,nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death.

You will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that my covenant may be with Levi,” says Yahweh of Armies.“ My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might be reverent toward me; and he was reverent toward me, and stood in awe of my name.The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from iniquity.For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Yahweh of Armies.But you have turned away from the path. You have caused many to stumble in the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi,” says Yahweh of Armies.

Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on Yahweh, and say,“ Isn’t Yahweh among us? No disaster will come on us.”
