然而，雅各啊！你並沒有呼求我。以色列啊！你竟厭煩我。

『但雅各啊，你呼求的並不是我呀！以色列啊，你厭煩的倒是我呢！

「然而，雅各啊，你卻沒有呼求我；以色列啊，你竟然厭倦了我！

惟爾雅各、不呼籲我、以色列厭我、

惟雅各家以色列族、敬恪已弛、不肯上籲、

雅各乎、爾反不籲我、以色列乎、爾反不因我而勤勞、

“ Yet you have not called on me, Jacob, you have not wearied yourselves for me, Israel.

“ Family of Jacob, you have not prayed to me as you should. People of Israel, you have not worn yourselves out for me.

“ Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!

“ But, dear family of Jacob, you refuse to ask for my help. You have grown tired of me, O Israel!

“ But, Jacob, you have not called on me, because, Israel, you have become weary of me.

“ Yet you have not called on Me, Jacob; But you have become weary of Me, Israel.

“ But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob; And you have been weary of Me, O Israel.

Yet thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

“ But Jacob, you have not called on Me, because, Israel, you have become weary of Me.

But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

Yet you have not called on me, Jacob; but you have been weary of me, Israel.

“ My people, how have I wronged you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!

You have said,‘ It is useless to serve God. How have we been helped by keeping his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD who rules over all?

You also say,‘ How tiresome it is.’ You turn up your nose at it,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ and instead bring what is stolen, lame, or sick. You bring these things for an offering! Should I accept this from you?” asks the LORD.

You desire and you do not have; you murder and envy and you cannot obtain; you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask;you ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, so you can spend it on your passions.

Vent your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you. Vent it on the peoples who do not worship you. For they have destroyed the people of Jacob. They have completely destroyed them and left their homeland in utter ruin.

No one invokes your name, or makes an effort to take hold of you. For you have rejected us and handed us over to our own sins.

Does God listen to his cry when distress overtakes him?Will he find delight in the Almighty? Will he call out to God at all times?

So they say to God,‘ Turn away from us! We do not want to know your ways.Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain if we were to pray to him?’

Pour out your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms that do not pray to you!

Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for your sin has been your downfall!Return to the LORD and repent! Say to him:“ Completely forgive our iniquity; accept our penitential prayer, that we may offer the praise of our lips as sacrificial bulls.

Has a nation ever changed its gods( even though they are not really gods at all)? But my people have exchanged me, their glorious God, for a god that cannot help them at all!Be amazed at this, O heavens! Be shocked and utterly dumbfounded,” says the LORD.“ Do so because my people have committed a double wrong: they have rejected me, the fountain of life-giving water, and they have dug cisterns for themselves, cracked cisterns which cannot even hold water.”

All those who behave wickedly do not understand– those who devour my people as if they were eating bread, and do not call out to the LORD.

This is what the Lord says:“ What fault could your ancestors have possibly found in me that they strayed so far from me? They paid allegiance to worthless idols, and so became worthless to me.

You people of this generation, listen to what the LORD says.“ Have I been like a wilderness to you, Israel? Have I been like a dark and dangerous land to you? Why then do you say,‘ We are free to wander. We will not come to you any more?’Does a young woman forget to put on her jewels? Does a bride forget to put on her bridal attire? But my people have forgotten me for more days than can even be counted.

After this many of his disciples quit following him and did not accompany him any longer.So Jesus said to the twelve,“ You don’t want to go away too, do you?”Simon Peter answered him,“ Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God!”

Just as it is written in the law of Moses, so all this calamity has come on us. Still we have not tried to pacify the LORD our God by turning back from our sin and by seeking wisdom from your reliable moral standards.

The arrogance of Israel testifies against him, yet they refuse to return to the LORD their God! In spite of all this they refuse to seek him!Ephraim has been like a dove, easily deceived and lacking discernment. They called to Egypt for help; they turned to Assyria for protection.I will throw my bird net over them while they are flying, I will bring them down like birds in the sky; I will discipline them when I hear them flocking together.Woe to them! For they have fled from me! Destruction to them! For they have rebelled against me! I want to deliver them, but they have lied to me.They do not pray to me, but howl in distress on their beds; They slash themselves for grain and new wine, but turn away from me.
