Behold, I will bring evil on you, and will utterly sweep you away and will cut off from Ahab everyone who urinates against a wall, and him who is shut up and him who is left at large in Israel.I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and have made Israel to sin.”

Therefore they will be like the morning mist, and like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.

Yahweh says,“ Record this man as childless, a man who will not prosper in his days; for no more will a man of his offspring prosper, sitting on David’s throne, and ruling in Judah.”

Yahweh will be seen over them; and his arrow will go flash like lightning; and the Lord Yahweh will blow the trumpet, and will go with whirlwinds of the south.

Yahweh has commanded concerning you:“ No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, I will cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile.”

The grass withers, the flower fades, because Yahweh’s breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.

“ but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they made the pleasant land desolate.”

So Jehu struck all that remained of Ahab’s house in Jezreel, with all his great men, his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him no one remaining.

Then the channels of the sea appeared. The foundations of the world were laid bare by Yahweh’s rebuke, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of Yahweh coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.

“ You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says Yahweh of Armies,“ Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.

His roots will be dried up beneath. His branch will be cut off above.His memory will perish from the earth. He will have no name in the street.He will be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining where he lived.

Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.

He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; for emptiness will be his reward.It will be accomplished before his time. His branch will not be green.He will shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and will cast off his flower as the olive tree.

but he will judge the poor with righteousness, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.

Behold, Yahweh’s storm, his wrath, has gone out. Yes, a whirling storm: It will burst on the head of the wicked.

How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.

Prepare for slaughter of his children because of the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth, and fill the surface of the world with cities.“ I will rise up against them,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and son and son’s son,” says Yahweh.

By the breath of God they perish. By the blast of his anger are they consumed.

Behold, I will put a spirit in him and he will hear news, and will return to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’”

In the day of your planting, you hedge it in. In the morning, you make your seed blossom, but the harvest flees away in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

For his burning place has long been ready. Yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made its pyre deep and large with fire and much wood. Yahweh’s breath, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.
