No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

They are planted. They are scattered like seeds. They put down roots in the ground. But as soon as that happens, God blows on them and they dry up. Then a windstorm sweeps them away like straw.

後簸揚之、任風吹散。我耶和華乃以色列族之聖主、爾曹賴我、其樂靡涯。

耶和華必降災於爾、絶爾後裔、不遺一男、爾之子孫、在以色列族中、自主及僕、靡有孑遺。必使爾家如尼八子耶羅破暗之家、亦如亞希雅子巴沙之家、因爾干其震怒、使以色列族陷罪。

故彼必若朝雲、立見其散、又若晨露、立見其晞、若穀場之糠、為颶風飄揚、猶之炊烟、騰於牖外。

先知曰、耶和華必為民顯見、矢若閃電、吹角行兵、譬彼狂飆、自南而至、

耶和華有命、告爾尼尼微王云、爾祚不長、爾上帝之殿、木偶金像、毀之殆盡、爾誠卑鄙、必於斯殞亡、

庶民惟草、草枯花凋、耶和華以風風之、則然、

我散斯眾於列邦、至於素不識之地、使膏腴之壤、變為荒蕪、無人往來、遍境寂寞。

耶戶戮耶斯烈地、亞哈家所有之眷屬、巨室、祭司、靡有孑遺。

耶和華叱咤而吹其氣、則地基海底、悉顯露焉。

以法蓮雖在昆弟之中、最為昌熾、我耶和華必使東風來自曠野、使其泉源立涸、彼之寶器、盡為敵虜、

昔爾慕多得少、攜物至家、我吹之飄沒者、誠何故耶、因爾各顧其廬、而我殿宇傾圮、毫不介意、萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。

譬諸林木、本實既撥、枝葉自枯。其姓氏不稱於通國、不傳於逵衢。推而納之幽暗之地、逐而出之寰區之外。彼之所出藐無遺孤、彼之所居惟存隙地、

束荊為炊、釜甑未熟、或青或枯、為大風吹去兮。

其身不得免於難、所生枝幹、為火焚燒、為風摧折。莫信虛妄、恐為所惑、彼所得者、浮而不實。彼猶林木、非時而被斬伐、不能長青。若葡萄果、未稔而先落、若橄欖花、雖開而早凋。

為困乏與謙遜之人聽訟、秉公行義、作惡者流、必遭箠楚、以辭氣滅之、

惟我震怒、使風驟起、飄搖震撼、罰彼惡徒、

彼若飛蓬、轉於空際、彼若糠秕、散於颶風、又在何時、我未之見也。

爾所懼之災害、迫切之患難、突如其來、如颶風之倏至。

父既犯罪、戮及子孫、不復振興、不建邑城、不得寸土。萬有之主耶和華曰、我將勃然而興、滅巴比倫遺民、塗抹其名、延及王之宗室、淪胥以亡、

蓋上帝震怒、而彼翦滅。

我將聳動其心、使聞一事、即歸故土、而殞於刃、

晨夕培養、待及穫時、望得嘉果、反增憂患、

自古以來、欲罰亞述國王在彼陀法、為備坎阱、其深無量、其廣無垠、積薪無數、望之若臺、焚之以火、耶和華之氣若硫磺、使烈燄四熾焉。
