And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”

‘ Some of the members of your family line will be taken away. They will be your own flesh and blood. They will include the children who will be born into your family line. And they will serve the king of Babylon in his palace.’ ”

And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”

‘ Some of your very own sons will be taken away into exile. They will become eunuchs who will serve in the palace of Babylon’s king.’”

猶大王約雅敬執掌國政之第三年、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷，將耶路撒冷圍困住。主將猶大王約雅敬和上帝殿中一部分的器皿交在他手裏，他就把這些器皿帶到示拿地、他的神廟裏，將器皿帶進他神廟的庫房中。王吩咐太監長亞施毘拿要從以色列人王家後裔、和顯達者之中、引進幾個人來，就是年輕的人，沒有任何殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問，富有知識，滿有學識、聰明，足能侍立在王宮殿的，要將迦勒底人的典籍和語言教授他們。王將王的大餐日日的分兒、和他自己喝的酒、分派給他們，將他們養大了三年；過了三年、他們好侍立在王面前。他們中間有猶大族的人、但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅。太監長給他們起了名，把但以理叫做伯提沙撒，把哈拿尼雅叫做沙得拉，把米沙利叫做米煞，把亞撒利雅叫做亞伯尼歌。

猶大王約雅斤出來投降巴比倫王，他和他母親、臣僕、大臣和內侍都出來；巴比倫王便拿住他，那是巴比倫王在位第八年。

到了年頭、尼布甲尼撒差遣了人將約雅斤帶到巴比倫，連同永恆主殿裏珍寶的器皿都帶去；他就立約雅斤的叔叔西底家作王來管理猶大和耶路撒冷。

迦勒底人將王捉住，把他帶上去到利比拉巴比倫王那裏，就宣佈判語來定他的罪。又在西底家眼前將他兒子們都宰殺掉，並將西底家一對眼睛都弄瞎了，然後用銅鍊鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去。

『你要對叛逆之家說：你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思麼？你要告訴他們說：看哪，巴比倫王曾經來到耶路撒冷，將其中的王和首領帶到巴比倫自己那裏。他從以色列王家後裔中取了一人，叫他發咒起誓、而跟他立約，巴王將國中有勢力的人擄去，使國低微，不能挺起，惟獨守約才得以存立。但他卻背叛了巴王，反而差遣使者往埃及去，要他們給他馬匹和許多兵丁。他哪能順利成功呢？行這樣事的人哪能逃脫呢？違反了盟約哪能逃脫呢？主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓：巴王立他做王，他竟藐視了發咒起誓的話，違反了巴王跟他所立的約；因此他一定必死在巴比倫、巴王住的地方。敵人倒土堆築了壘要剪滅許多人時，法老雖領了大軍隊大羣眾人也不能在戰陣上跟他周旋呀。他藐視了發咒起誓的話，違犯了盟約；曾經舉手起了誓，還行這一切事，他必不能逃脫。因此主永恆主這麼說：我指着永活的我來起誓，對他所藐視我發咒起誓的話、和他所違犯我立的約、我一定要將這罪還報在他頭上。我必將我的網撒在他身上，他必在我的網羅中被捉住；我要把他帶到巴比倫，在那裏判罰他對我不忠實的罪。

凡脫離刀劍的殘存者、迦勒底王都使他們流亡到巴比倫，去做他和他子孫的奴僕，直到波斯國執掌國政的時候。

他使約雅斤流亡到巴比倫去；也使王母王妃和王的內侍、以及國中的權貴、都從耶路撒冷流亡到巴比倫。

並將西底家的一對眼睛都弄瞎了，然後用銅鍊鎖着他，要將他帶到巴比倫去。

因此永恆主使亞述王的將軍來攻擊他們，用鐃鈎鈎住瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖着他，將他帶到巴比倫去。
