And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”

‘ Some of the members of your family line will be taken away. They will be your own flesh and blood. They will include the children who will be born into your family line. And they will serve the king of Babylon in his palace.’ ”

And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”

‘ Some of your very own sons will be taken away into exile. They will become eunuchs who will serve in the palace of Babylon’s king.’”

‘ Some of your descendants— who come from you, whom you father— will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

‘ And some of your sons who will come from you, whom you will father, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ”

‘ And they shall take away some of your sons who will descend from you, whom you will beget; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

猶大王約雅敬在位第三年，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷，把城圍困。主把猶大王約雅敬和神殿中的一部分器物交在尼布甲尼撒手裡，他就把這些器物帶到示拿地的神廟那裡，存放在廟中的寶庫裡。王吩咐他的太監長亞施毘拿說：“你要從以色列人中，把一些王室的後裔和貴族帶進來；這些年輕人必須沒有殘疾、英俊、足智多才、有高度學習能力、明察事理，而且他們必須有能力可以在王宮裡工作。你要教他們學習迦勒底的文學和語言。”王指定每日給他們一份御用的佳餚美酒；又教養他們三年。期滿以後，他們就侍立在王面前。他們中間有猶大人但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅。太監長給他們起了新的名字，稱但以理為伯提沙撒，哈拿尼雅為沙得拉，米沙利為米煞，亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。

猶大王約雅斤和他的母親、眾臣僕、眾領袖，以及眾太監，出城投降巴比倫王。巴比倫王於是捉住他。那時，是巴比倫王在位第八年。

過了年，尼布甲尼撒派人去把約雅斤和耶和華殿裡的珍貴的器皿，一起帶到巴比倫來。他立了約雅斤的叔叔西底家，作猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

他們把王擒住，把他解到利比拉巴比倫王那裡；他們就宣判他的罪。他們又在西底家眼前殺了他的眾子，並且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎，然後用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

“你要對那叛逆的民族說：‘你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思嗎？’你要告訴他們：‘看哪！巴比倫王曾到耶路撒冷來，把其中的王和眾領袖擄去，帶他們到巴比倫那裡去。他從以色列王室後裔中選出一人，與他立約，叫他起誓，並且把國中那些有勢力的人擄去，使國衰微，不能再興盛，唯有謹守條約他才可以繼續存在。可是這人背叛了巴比倫王，差遣使者到埃及去，要得戰馬和大軍。他能亨通嗎？行這樣事的人，怎能逃脫呢？他破壞條約，怎能逃脫呢？我指著我的永生起誓：他藐視了自己所起的誓，背棄了與王所立的約，因此他必死在巴比倫，就是那立他作王的巴比倫王的國家。這是耶和華的宣告。敵人建造圍城的高牆，築起攻城土壘要剪除多人的時候，法老率領大軍和大隊人馬，還是不能幫助他作戰。他藐視誓言，背棄條約；他已宣誓效忠，卻又行了這一切事，所以他必不能逃脫。因此主耶和華這樣說：我指著我的永生起誓：他既然藐視我的誓言，背棄我的約，我必使這罪歸到他的頭上。我要把我的網撒在他身上，他必在我的網羅中被捕獲；我要把他帶到巴比倫去，並且要在那裡因他對我不忠的罪審判他。

脫離刀劍的人，迦勒底王都把他們擄到巴比倫去，作他和他的子孫的奴僕，直到波斯國興起的時候。

他把約雅斤擄到巴比倫去，又把太后、后妃、太監和國中的要員都從耶路撒冷擄到巴比倫；

並且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎了，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

因此耶和華領亞述王的將帥來攻打他們，用鈎子鈎著瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。
