Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning— there were all the dead bodies!

Then the angel of the Lord went into the camp of the Assyrians. He put to death 185,000 soldiers there. The people of Jerusalem got up the next morning. They looked out and saw all the dead bodies.

And the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!

主在錫安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的時候，說：「我必懲罰亞述王自大的心和他高傲尊貴的眼目。」

天使向耶路撒冷伸手要毀滅這城的時候，耶和華改變心意，不降那災難，就對那在百姓中施行毀滅的天使說：「夠了！住手吧！」耶和華的使者正在耶布斯人亞勞拿的禾場那裏。

亞述必倒在刀下，並非人的刀；有刀要將它吞滅，並非人的刀。它要逃避這刀，它的年輕人必做苦工。

耶和華就差遣一個使者進入亞述王的營中，把所有大能的勇士、官長和將領盡都滅了。亞述王滿面羞愧地回到本國，進了他神明的廟中，他幾個親生的兒子在那裏用刀殺了他。這樣，耶和華救希西家和耶路撒冷的居民脫離亞述王西拿基立的手，也脫離一切仇敵的手，又賜他們四境平安。

看哪，主－萬軍之耶和華以猛撞削斷樹枝；巨木必被砍下，高大的樹必降為低。稠密的樹林，他要用鐵器砍下，黎巴嫩必被大能者伐倒。

萬邦喧嚷，國度動搖；神出聲，地就熔化。萬軍之耶和華與我們同在，雅各的神是我們的避難所！（細拉）你們來看耶和華的作為，看他使地怎樣荒涼。他止息戰爭，直到地極；他折弓、斷槍，把戰車焚燒在火中。你們要休息，要知道我是神！我必在列國中受尊崇，在全地也受尊崇。萬軍之耶和華與我們同在，雅各的神是我們的避難所！

因此，主－萬軍之耶和華必使亞述王的壯士變為瘦弱，在他的榮華之下必有火點燃，如同火在燃燒一般。以色列的光必變成火，它的聖者必成為火焰；一日之間，將亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒淨盡，又毀滅樹林和田園的榮華，連魂帶體，好像病重的人消逝一樣。他林中只剩下稀少的樹木，連孩童也能寫其數目。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，又以極大的憤怒、吞滅的火焰、雷雨、暴風和像石塊的冰雹，使人看見他降罰的膀臂。亞述必因耶和華的聲音驚惶，耶和華必用杖擊打它。耶和華必將定規要打的杖加在它身上；每打一下，都必配合擊鼓彈琴的節奏。打仗時，耶和華必振臂與它交戰。原來陀斐特早已預備好了，是為君王預備的；又深又寬，堆滿了火和木柴；耶和華的氣息猶如一股硫磺使它燃起。

法老和他眾臣僕，以及所有的埃及人，都在夜間起來了。在埃及有大大的哀號，因為沒有一家不死人的。

他們高升，不過片刻就沒有了；他們降為卑，被除滅，與眾人一樣，又如穀的穗子被割下。

因為耶和華要走遍埃及，施行擊殺，他看見血在門楣上和兩邊的門框上，耶和華就必逾越那門，不讓滅命者進你們的家，施行擊殺。

願他們像風前的糠粃，有耶和華的使者趕逐他們。願他們的道路又暗又滑，有耶和華的使者追趕他們。

心中勇敢的人都被掠奪；他們睡了長覺，沒有一個英雄能措手。雅各的神啊，你的斥責一發，戰車和戰馬都沉睡了。你，惟獨你是可畏的！你的怒氣一發，誰能在你面前站得住呢？

惡人歡樂的聲音是暫時的，不敬虔人的喜樂不過是轉眼之間。他的尊榮雖達到天上，頭雖頂到雲中，他必永遠滅亡，像自己的糞一樣。看見他的人要說：『他在哪裏呢？』

大衛舉目，看見耶和華的使者站在天和地之間，手裏有拔出來的刀，伸在耶路撒冷以上。大衛和長老都披上麻布，臉伏於地。

因為你們自己明明知道，主的日子來到會像賊在夜間突然來到一樣。人正說平安穩定的時候，災禍忽然臨到他們，如同陣痛臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕逃脫不了。

三年的饑荒，或敗在敵人面前，被敵人的刀追殺三個月，或在國中三日有耶和華的刀，就是瘟疫，讓耶和華的使者在以色列全境施行毀滅呢？』現在你要想一想，我怎樣去回覆那差我來的。」

耶和華說：「現在我要興起，要高升，要受尊崇。你們懷的是糠粃，生的是碎稭；你們的氣息如火吞滅自己。萬民必像燒着的石灰，又如斬斷的荊棘，在火裏燃燒。」

希律不歸榮耀給神，所以主的使者立刻擊打他，他被蟲咬，就斷了氣。
