John’s two disciples found Jesus and said to him,“ John the Baptist sent us to ask,‘ Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?’”At that very time, Jesus cured many people of their diseases, illnesses, and evil spirits, and he restored sight to many who were blind.Then he told John’s disciples,“ Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard— the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.”And he added,“ God blesses those who do not fall away because of me.”

Then everyone who has eyes will be able to see the truth, and everyone who has ears will be able to hear it.Even the hotheads will be full of sense and understanding. Those who stammer will speak out plainly.

In that day the deaf will hear words read from a book, and the blind will see through the gloom and darkness.

The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.“ Rabbi,” his disciples asked him,“ why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”“ It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered.“ This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.”Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes.He told him,“ Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam”( Siloam means“ sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!

Then Jesus told him,“ I entered this world to render judgment— to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”

After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting,“ Son of David, have mercy on us!”They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them,“ Do you believe I can make you see?”“ Yes, Lord,” they told him,“ we do.”Then he touched their eyes and said,“ Because of your faith, it will happen.”Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them,“ Don’t tell anyone about this.”

When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit.“ Listen, you spirit that makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said.“ I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!”Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said,“ He’s dead.”

I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them.

for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,“ Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

The blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, and he healed them.

Two blind men were sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”“ Be quiet!” the crowd yelled at them. But they only shouted louder,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called,“ What do you want me to do for you?”“ Lord,” they said,“ we want to see!”Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly.

So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.

“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

Then a demon possessed man, who was blind and couldn’t speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see.

When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged him to touch the man and heal him.Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked,“ Can you see anything now?”The man looked around.“ Yes,” he said,“ I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.”Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.

A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to him, and the people begged Jesus to lay his hands on the man to heal him.Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone. He put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then, spitting on his own fingers, he touched the man’s tongue.Looking up to heaven, he sighed and said,“ Ephphatha,” which means,“ Be opened!”Instantly the man could hear perfectly, and his tongue was freed so he could speak plainly!Jesus told the crowd not to tell anyone, but the more he told them not to, the more they spread the news.They were completely amazed and said again and again,“ Everything he does is wonderful. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to those who cannot speak.”

asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called— his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Ears to hear and eyes to see— both are gifts from the Lord.

Then the Lord asked Moses,“ Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord?

“ Yes, I will tell you of things that are entirely new, things you never heard of before. For I know so well what traitors you are. You have been rebels from birth.

But some said,“ This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?”

to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’

Bring out the people who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf.

To whom can I give warning? Who will listen when I speak? Their ears are closed, and they cannot hear. They scorn the word of the Lord. They don’t want to listen at all.

He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings.
