“ Assyria will fall by no human sword; a sword, not of mortals, will devour them. They will flee before the sword and their young men will be put to forced labor.

The Lord says,“ The Assyrians will be killed by swords. But the swords that kill them will not be used by human beings. The Assyrians will run away from those swords. But their young men will be caught and forced to work hard.

“ And the Assyrian shall fall by a sword, not of man; and a sword, not of man, shall devour him; and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be put to forced labor.

“ The Assyrians will be destroyed, but not by the swords of men. The sword of God will strike them, and they will panic and flee. The strong young Assyrians will be taken away as captives.

Then Assyria will fall, but not by human sword; a sword will devour him, but not one made by man. He will flee from the sword; his young men will be put to forced labor.

And the Assyrian will fall by a sword not wielded by a man, And a sword not of man will devour him. So he will not escape the sword, And his young men will become forced laborers.

他看安居为美，他看肥地为佳，他屈肩负重，成了服苦的奴仆。

因我为自己的缘故，又为我仆人大卫的缘故，必保护这城，拯救这城。’”于是耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中击杀了十八万五千人；到了早晨，有人起来，所见的都是死尸。亚述王西拿基立就拔营离去，返回本地，住在尼尼微。他在自己的神尼斯洛庙里叩拜的时候，他的儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

但你敌人的数量必多如灰尘，那些强暴者的数量也多如被吹散的糠秕，这必在顷刻之间，突然发生。

因此，主万军之耶和华必打发令人消瘦的病临到亚述王肥壮的军人中间，在他的荣耀之下必燃起火焰，如同火烧一样。以色列的光必变成火，他的圣者必成为火焰；在一日之间把亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧与吞灭。又把他树林和丰盛果园的荣美全部灭尽，包括灵魂和身体，好像一个患病的人渐渐虚弱一样。他林中剩下的树，数目必定稀少，连小孩子也能把它们的数目写下来。

耶和华就差派一位使者，进入亚述王的军营中，把所有英勇的战士、官长和将帅，尽都消灭了。亚述王满面羞愧返回本国去了。他进入自己的神庙的时候，他亲生的儿子在那里用刀把他杀了。

为了我和我仆人大卫的缘故，我必保护这城，拯救这城。’”那天晚上，耶和华的使者出去，在亚述军营杀了十八万五千人。早上，他们起来的时候，看哪，到处都是死尸。于是亚述王西拿基立拔营离开，回去住在尼尼微。一日，他正在他的神亚斯洛的庙中叩拜的时候，亚得米勒和沙利色用刀刺杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

看哪！耶和华的名从远方而来，他的怒气烧起，浓烟上腾；他的嘴唇充满忿怒，他的舌头像吞灭的火。他的气息如涨溢的河水，直涨到颈项，并要用毁灭的筛把列国筛净，又在众民口中放入使人步向灭亡的嚼环。你们却必歌唱，好像守圣节的夜间一样；你们必心里喜乐，好像吹着笛行走的人，必上耶和华的山，到以色列的磐石那里。耶和华必使人听见他威严的声音，在烈怒、吞灭一切火焰、大雨、暴风和冰雹之中，又使人看见他那降下来的膀臂。亚述人必因耶和华的声音惊惶；耶和华要用杖击打他们。耶和华必把刑罚的杖加在他们身上，每打一下，都有击鼓和弹琴的声音；耶和华在争战的时候，必挥动着手与他们争战。因为陀斐特那烧着的火早已安排好了，是为君王预备的，又深又宽；其中所堆的，是火和许多的柴；耶和华的气像一股硫磺火，把它燃点起来。

主在锡安山和耶路撒冷成全了他一切工作的时候，他必说：我要惩罚亚述王自大的心所结的果子，和他眼目高傲的态度。

看哪！主万军之耶和华在可怕的震撼声中，把树枝削去；身量高的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒。树林中的密丛，他必用铁器砍下；黎巴嫩的树木必被大能者伐倒。

“但我要怜恤犹大家，使他们靠耶和华他们的神得救。我要拯救他们，并不是靠弓、靠刀、靠战争，也不是靠战马、靠骑兵。”

看哪！我必使灵进入他里面，以致他听见风声就归回本地；我必使他在那里倒在刀下。’”
