The Lord will cause people to hear his majestic voice and will make them see his arm coming down with raging anger and consuming fire, with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail.

The Lord will cause people to hear his powerful voice. He will make them see his arm coming down to punish them. It will come down with burning anger and destroying fire. It will come down with rain, thunderstorms and hail.

And the Lord will cause his majestic voice to be heard and the descending blow of his arm to be seen, in furious anger and a flame of devouring fire, with a cloudburst and storm and hailstones.

There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. And a severe earthquake occurred like no other since people have been on the earth, so great was the quake.The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. terror and dread will fall on them. They will be as still as a stone because of your powerful arm until your people pass by, LORD, until the people whom you purchased pass by.

The voice of the LORD is above the waters. The God of glory thunders— the LORD, above the vast water,the voice of the LORD in power, the voice of the LORD in splendor.The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion, like a young wild ox.The voice of the LORD flashes flames of fire.The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the woodlands bare. In his temple all cry,“ Glory!”

The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks; he summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God appears in radiance.Our God is coming; he will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes him, and a storm rages around him.

Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath:

Just listen to his thunderous voice and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.He lets it loose beneath the entire sky; his lightning to the ends of the earth.Then there comes a roaring sound; God thunders with his majestic voice. He does not restrain the lightning when his rumbling voice is heard.God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things that we cannot comprehend.

Nations rage, kingdoms topple; the earth melts when he lifts his voice.

His feet were like fine bronze as it is fired in a furnace, and his voice like the sound of cascading waters.

Wake up, wake up! Arm of the LORD, clothe yourself with strength. Wake up as in days past, as in generations long ago. Wasn’t it you who hacked Rahab to pieces, who pierced the sea monster?

Do you have an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like his?

Fire goes before him and burns up his foes on every side.His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles.The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD— at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts;

Samuel was offering the burnt offering as the Philistines approached to fight against Israel. The LORD thundered loudly against the Philistines that day and threw them into such confusion that they were defeated by Israel.
