Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.

He might treat you like prisoners. You might eat the bread of trouble. You might drink the water of suffering. But he will be your Teacher. He won’t hide himself anymore. You will see him with your own eyes.

And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.

Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes.

The Lord will give you meager bread and water during oppression, but your Teacher will not hide any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher,

Say,‘ This is what the king says,“ Put this man in prison. Give him only a little bread and water until I safely return.”’”

They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying,“ We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”

It is vain for you to rise early, come home late, and work so hard for your food. Yes, he can provide for those whom he loves even when they sleep.

We do not see any signs of God’s presence; there are no longer any prophets and we have no one to tell us how long this will last.

Be certain of this, the time is coming,” says the sovereign LORD,“ when I will send a famine through the land– not a shortage of food or water but an end to divine revelation!People will stagger from sea to sea, and from the north around to the east. They will wander about looking for a revelation from the LORD, but they will not find any.

For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.

For I eat ashes as if they were bread, and mix my drink with my tears,

You must not eat any yeast with it; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast, symbolic of affliction, for you came out of Egypt hurriedly. You must do this so you will remember for the rest of your life the day you came out of the land of Egypt.

And the LORD said,“ This is how the people of Israel will eat their unclean food among the nations where I will banish them.”And I said,“ Ah, sovereign LORD, I have never been ceremonially defiled before. I have never eaten a carcass or an animal torn by wild beasts; from my youth up, unclean meat has never entered my mouth.”So he said to me,“ All right then, I will substitute cow’s manure instead of human excrement. You will cook your food over it.”Then he said to me,“ Son of man, I am about to remove the bread supply in Jerusalem. They will eat their bread ration anxiously, and they will drink their water ration in terrorbecause they will lack bread and water. Each one will be terrified, and they will rot for their iniquity.

Say,‘ This is what the king says:“ Put this man in prison. Give him only a little bread and water until I return safely.”’”

Then you will do as I have done: You will not cover your lip or eat food brought by others.Your turbans will be on your heads and your sandals on your feet; you will not mourn or weep, but you will rot for your iniquities and groan among yourselves.

Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”

It was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
