因此藉著以下的事，雅各的罪孽才得以贖清：他要使祭壇的所有石頭都變為粉碎的灰石，使亞舍拉和香壇不再豎立——這必成為他罪被除掉的全部果效。

雅各之愆得宥、其罪見除之果、在於使壇石糜爛如灰、木偶日像、不復樹立、

若此則雅各之罪、可以滌除、其惡亦堪洗濯、毀祭臺之石、使之成灰、木偶日像、不復樹立、

故雅各之愆尤、以此得蒙赦免、斯災所結之果、即除其罪惡、因其毀祭壇之石、使如已碎之灰石、而亞舍拉亞舍拉或作木偶與日像不復立焉、

By this, then, will Jacob’s guilt be atoned for, and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones to be like limestone crushed to pieces, no Asherah poles or incense altars will be left standing.

The people of Jacob will have to pay for their sin. Here is how they will show that their sin has been removed. They will make all the altar stones like limestone. They will crush them to pieces. No poles used to worship the female god named Asherah will be left standing. No incense altars will be left either.

Therefore by this the guilt of Jacob will be atoned for, and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin: when he makes all the stones of the altars like chalk stones crushed to pieces, no Asherim or incense altars will remain standing.

The Lord did this to purge Israel’s wickedness, to take away all her sin. As a result, all the pagan altars will be crushed to dust. No Asherah pole or pagan shrine will be left standing.

Therefore Jacob’s iniquity will be atoned for in this way, and the result of the removal of his sin will be this: when he makes all the altar stones like crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.

Therefore through this Jacob’s wrongdoing will be forgiven; And this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalk stones; When Asherim and incense altars will not stand.

Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be covered; And this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: When he makes all the stones of the altar Like chalkstones that are beaten to dust, Wooden images and incense altars shall not stand.

Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, so that the Asherim and the sun- images shall rise no more.

Therefore Jacob’s iniquity will be purged in this way, and the result of the removal of his sin will be this: when he makes all the altar stones like crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.

By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this[ is] all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.

So in this way Jacob’s sin will be forgiven, and this is how they will show they are finished sinning: They will make all the stones of the altars like crushed limestone, and the Asherah poles and the incense altars will no longer stand.

Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar as chalk stones that are beaten in pieces, so that the Asherah poles and the incense altars shall rise no more.

They will not look to the altars, the work of their hands, and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles and the incense altars their fingers have made. (niv)

And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” (niv)

Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time. (niv)

See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. (niv)

The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted( and they will be humbled),for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,for every trading ship and every stately vessel.The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,and the idols will totally disappear.People will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from the fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth. I will destroy your idols and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles when I demolish your cities. (niv)

He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him. (niv)

The Babylonians broke up the bronze pillars, the movable stands and the bronze Sea that were at the temple of the Lord and they carried the bronze to Babylon.They also took away the pots, shovels, wick trimmers, dishes and all the bronze articles used in the temple service.The commander of the imperial guard took away the censers and sprinkling bowls— all that were made of pure gold or silver.The bronze from the two pillars, the Sea and the movable stands, which Solomon had made for the temple of the Lord, was more than could be weighed.Each pillar was eighteen cubits high. The bronze capital on top of one pillar was three cubits high and was decorated with a network and pomegranates of bronze all around. The other pillar, with its network, was similar. (niv)

“ On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty.“ I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. (niv)

The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire. (niv)

Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? I will answer him and care for him. I am like a flourishing juniper; your fruitfulness comes from me.” (niv)

He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down. (niv)

Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows, so that its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away.It has frustrated all efforts; its heavy deposit has not been removed, not even by fire.“‘ Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided.“‘ I the Lord have spoken. The time has come for me to act. I will not hold back; I will not have pity, nor will I relent. You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions, declares the Sovereign Lord.’” (niv)

Under his direction the altars of the Baals were torn down; he cut to pieces the incense altars that were above them, and smashed the Asherah poles and the idols. These he broke to pieces and scattered over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them. (niv)

But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, (niv)

Then Joshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, in accordance with what is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices. “ You will be ashamed because of the sacred oaks in which you have delighted; you will be disgraced because of the gardens that you have chosen. (niv)

It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. (niv)

Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (niv)

Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles. (niv)

“ They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. (niv)

Blows and wounds scrub away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being. (niv)

Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. (niv)

because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” (niv)

I will purge you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. (niv)

They set fire to God’s temple and broke down the wall of Jerusalem; they burned all the palaces and destroyed everything of value there. (niv)

Therefore the Lord, the Lord Almighty, the Mighty One of Israel, declares:“ Ah! I will vent my wrath on my foes and avenge myself on my enemies.I will turn my hand against you; I will thoroughly purge away your dross and remove all your impurities. (niv)

Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world. (niv)
