耶和華擊之、豈若擊彼擊之者乎、其見殺也、豈若殺之者之見殺乎、

雅各之家、雖遭譴責、不若敵之譴責尤深、雖被殺戮、不若敵之殺戮更慘、

雅各被主譴責、豈如其敵被主譴責、雖遇殺戮、豈如其敵所遇之殺戮、

Has the Lord struck her as he struck down those who struck her? Has she been killed as those were killed who killed her?

The Lord struck down those who struck down Israel. But he hasn’t punished Israel as much. The Lord killed those who killed many of his people. But he hasn’t punished his people as much.

Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or have they been slain as their slayers were slain?

Has the Lord struck Israel as he struck her enemies? Has he punished her as he punished them?

Did the LORD strike Israel as he struck the one who struck Israel? Was Israel killed like those killed by the LORD?

Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He struck them? Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?

Has He struck Israel as He struck those who struck him? Or has He been slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him?

Hath he smitten them as he smote those that smote them? or are they slain according to the slaughter of them that were slain by them?

Did the Lord strike Israel as He struck the one who struck Israel? Was he killed like those killed by Him?

Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him?[ or] is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?

Has the LORD struck down Israel like he did their oppressors? Has Israel been killed like their enemies?

Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or are they killed like those who killed them were killed?

Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning— there were all the dead bodies!So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisrok, his sons Adrammelek and Sharezer killed him with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king. (niv)

I am with you and will save you,’ declares the Lord.‘ Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.’“ This is what the Lord says:“‘ Your wound is incurable, your injury beyond healing.There is no one to plead your cause, no remedy for your sore, no healing for you.All your allies have forgotten you; they care nothing for you. I have struck you as an enemy would and punished you as would the cruel, because your guilt is so great and your sins so many.Why do you cry out over your wound, your pain that has no cure? Because of your great guilt and many sins I have done these things to you.“‘ But all who devour you will be devoured; all your enemies will go into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered; all who make spoil of you I will despoil. (niv)

“ I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord Almighty.“ I will wipe out Babylon’s name and survivors, her offspring and descendants,” declares the Lord.“ I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord Almighty. (niv)

In the evening, sudden terror! Before the morning, they are gone! This is the portion of those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us. (niv)

“ Before your eyes I will repay Babylon and all who live in Babylonia for all the wrong they have done in Zion,” declares the Lord. (niv)

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah as well. All their captors hold them fast, refusing to let them go.Yet their Redeemer is strong; the Lord Almighty is his name. He will vigorously defend their cause so that he may bring rest to their land, but unrest to those who live in Babylon. (niv)

The Lord has given a command concerning you, Nineveh:“ You will have no descendants to bear your name. I will destroy the images and idols that are in the temple of your gods. I will prepare your grave, for you are vile.” (niv)

Nothing can heal you; your wound is fatal. All who hear the news about you clap their hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty? (niv)

“ Your Majesty looked, and there before you stood a large statue— an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance.The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay.While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were all broken to pieces and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. (niv)

As I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah along with their neighboring towns,” declares the Lord,“ so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it. (niv)

In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty God.Though your people be like the sand by the sea, Israel, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overwhelming and righteous.The Lord, the Lord Almighty, will carry out the destruction decreed upon the whole land.Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord Almighty, says:“ My people who live in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrians, who beat you with a rod and lift up a club against you, as Egypt did.Very soon my anger against you will end and my wrath will be directed to their destruction.” (niv)

The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,” declares the Lord Almighty. (niv)
