They will be herded together like prisoners bound in a dungeon; they will be shut up in prison and be punished after many days.

他們就拿住耶利米，把他丟在王子瑪基雅的井裡，那井是在衛兵的院子裡的；他們用繩子把耶利米縋下去。井裡沒有水，只有淤泥；耶利米就陷在淤泥中。宮中的臣宰古實人以伯．米勒，在王宮裡聽見他們把耶利米關在井裡的消息（那時，王正在便雅憫門坐著），以伯．米勒就從王宮裡出來，稟告王說：“我主我王啊！這些人對耶利米先知所作的一切真是惡毒，他們把他丟在井裡；在那地方他必餓死，因為城裡再沒有糧食了。”於是王吩咐古實人以伯．米勒說：“你從這裡帶三十個人，在耶利米先知未死以前，把他從井裡拉上來。”以伯．米勒就帶人進王宮去，到儲物室下面的一個房間，從那裡取了些破布爛衣，用繩子縋下井裡給耶利米。古實人以伯．米勒對耶利米說：“把這些破布爛衣墊在你的腋下，然後束上繩子。”耶利米就這樣作了。於是他們用繩子把耶利米從井裡拉出來；這樣，耶利米可以住在衛兵的院子裡。

地上的居民哪！恐懼、陷坑和網羅，都臨近你們！

那五個王逃跑了，躲藏在瑪基大洞裡。有人告訴約書亞，說：“那五個王已經找到了，都躲藏在瑪基大洞裡。”

耶和華起來，使大地震動的時候，人必進入石洞，進入土穴，躲避耶和華的驚嚇和他威嚴的榮光。

過了許多日子，你必被徵點出戰；在以後的年間，你必來攻擊那脫離刀劍的地，就是那從列邦聚集回來的人所住的地；你必來攻擊以色列這些久已荒涼的山；他們是從萬族中領出來的，都在那裡安然居住。

約書亞說：“你們打開洞口，把那五個王從洞裡拉出來，帶到我這裡來。”眾人就照著執行，他們把那五個王，就是耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王和伊磯倫王，從洞裡拉出來，帶到約書亞那裡去。眾人把那五個王帶到約書亞那裡去的時候，約書亞把所有的以色列人都召了來，對那些與他同去作戰的軍長說：“你們走前來，把腳踏在這些王的頸項上。”他們就走前來，把腳踏在那些王的頸項上。約書亞對他們說：“你們不要懼怕，不要驚慌；總要堅強勇敢，因為耶和華必這樣對待你們要攻打的所有仇敵。”隨後，約書亞把那五個王殺死，懸在五棵樹上；他們就懸在樹上，直到晚上。

你們只能屈身在被擄的人中間，或是仆倒在被殺的人中間。雖然這樣，耶和華的怒氣還沒有轉消，他的手仍然伸出。
