那天晚上，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述軍營殺了十八萬五千人。早上，他們起來的時候，看哪，到處都是死屍。

你滿有羞辱，沒有尊榮，你也喝到露出下體來吧！耶和華右手的杯必傳回來給你，使極大的羞辱取代你的尊榮。因你向黎巴嫩使用暴力，殺滅驚嚇野獸；又殺人流血，向全地各城和其中所有居民施行暴力，就必受到報應（“報應”原文作“遮蓋”）。

亞述人來到亞葉，經過米磯崙；在密抹存放軍隊行裝。他們過了隘口，在迦巴住宿；拉瑪人戰兢，掃羅的基比亞人逃跑。迦琳的居民哪，高聲叫喊吧！萊煞人和可憐的亞拿突啊，留心聽吧！瑪得米那人逃跑，基柄的居民避難。就在今日，亞述王要停留在挪伯；他要揮拳攻擊錫安居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）的山，就是耶路撒冷的山。

那時，以色列歸耶和華為聖，作他初熟的土產。吞吃她的，都算為有罪，災禍必臨到他們。’”這是耶和華的宣告。

他們對他說：“希西家這樣說：‘今天是痛苦、責罰和侮辱的日子，好像嬰兒的產期到了，卻沒有力量生產。

因此，萬軍之耶和華以色列的神說：“我指著我的永生起誓：摩押人必要像所多瑪，亞捫人必定像蛾摩拉，成為刺草和鹽坑之所，永遠荒涼之地。我餘下的子民必擄掠他們，我國中所餘的要得著他們為業。”由於他們的狂傲，這事就臨到他們；因為他們自誇自大，辱罵萬軍之耶和華的子民。

這是你應得的，是我量給你的分。”這是耶和華的宣告。“因為你忘記了我，去倚靠虛假的偶像；

這是惡人從神所得的分，是神給他指定的產業。”

因為耶和華必為他們伸冤，搶奪他們的，耶和華也必奪取那人的性命。

耶和華啊，願你所有的仇敵都這樣滅亡；願愛他的人像太陽出現，大有能力。”於是國中太平了四十年。

你這毀滅人，自己卻不被毀滅的；你這行事詭詐，別人倒不以詭詐待你的，有禍了！你剛停止毀滅人的時候，自己就要被毀滅；你剛停止行詭詐的時候，別人就必以詭詐待你。

他們不必從田野撿柴，也不必從樹林裡伐木，因為他們必把武器當柴燒；他們必搶劫那些曾搶劫他們的人，掠奪那些掠奪他們的人。這是主耶和華的宣告。

但他很快就消逝，不再存在了；我尋找他，卻找不到。
