万军之耶和华起誓说：“我怎样思想，必照样成就；我怎样定意，必照样成立，就是在我地上打折亚述人，在我山上将他践踏。他加的轭必离开以色列人；他加的重担必离开他们的肩头。这是向全地所定的旨意；这是向万国所伸出的手。”万军之耶和华既然定意，谁能废弃呢？他的手已经伸出，谁能转回呢？

到那日，雅各的荣耀必至枵薄；他肥胖的身体必渐瘦弱。

你仇敌的群众，却要像细尘；强暴人的群众，也要像飞糠。这事必顷刻之间忽然临到。万军之耶和华必用雷轰、地震、大声、旋风、暴风，并吞灭的火焰，向她讨罪。那时，攻击亚利伊勒列国的群众，就是一切攻击亚利伊勒和她的保障，并使她困难的，必如梦景，如夜间的异象；又必像饥饿的人梦中吃饭，醒了仍觉腹空；或像口渴的人梦中喝水，醒了仍觉发昏，心里想喝。攻击锡安山列国的群众也必如此。

那时，羊羔必来吃草，如同在自己的草场；丰肥人的荒场被游行的人吃尽。

因你向我发烈怒，又因你狂傲的话达到我耳中，我就要用钩子钩上你的鼻子，把嚼环放在你口里，使你从原路转回去。

战士在乱杀之间所穿戴的盔甲，并那滚在血中的衣服，都必作为可烧的，当作火柴。

耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中杀了十八万五千人。清早有人起来一看，都是死尸了。

希律不归荣耀给神，所以主的使者立刻罚他，他被虫所咬，气就绝了。

以赛亚对他们说：“要这样对你们的主人说，耶和华如此说：‘你听见亚述王的仆人亵渎我的话，不要惧怕。我必惊动他的心；他要听见风声就归回本地，我必使他在那里倒在刀下。’”

因此，主必使大河翻腾的水猛然冲来，就是亚述王和他所有的威势，必漫过一切的水道，涨过两岸；

耶和华说：“现在我要起来；我要兴起；我要勃然而兴。你们要怀的是糠秕，要生的是碎秸；你们的气就是吞灭自己的火。列邦必像已烧的石灰，像已割的荆棘在火中焚烧。”你们远方的人当听我所行的；你们近处的人当承认我的大能。锡安中的罪人都惧怕；不敬虔的人被战兢抓住。“我们中间谁能与吞灭的火同住？我们中间谁能与永火同住呢？”

又将他树林和肥田的荣耀全然烧尽，好像拿军旗的昏过去一样。
