故大主宰萬有之主、必使其肥壯之人、變為瘦瘠、使其榮華中、如有烈火焚燬、

Therefore, the Lord, the Lord Almighty, will send a wasting disease upon his sturdy warriors; under his pomp a fire will be kindled like a blazing flame.

那時，神把他們所求的賜給他們，卻使衰敗臨到他們的靈魂。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，又以猛烈的怒氣、吞噬的火焰、暴雨、狂風和石頭般的冰雹，使人看見他掄下來的膀臂。亞述人必因耶和華的聲音而喪膽，耶和華必用杖擊打他們；耶和華施刑的杖每打他們一下，人都會擊鼓和彈琴；打仗的時候，耶和華必揮手與他們爭戰。原來，那焚燒場早已安排好了，是為君王所預備的；它又深又寬，其中充滿了火和許多木柴；耶和華的氣息如同一股硫磺火使它燃燒起來。

萬軍之耶和華起誓說：「我怎樣想，也必怎樣成；我怎樣策劃，也必怎樣成立。我要在我的地上摧毀亞述，在我的群山上把它踐踏；它所加的軛必離開以色列人，它所加的重擔必離開他們的肩頭。」這就是對全地所策劃的謀略，這就是向萬國所伸出的手。要知道，萬軍之耶和華已經策劃了，有誰能破壞呢？他的手已經伸出了，有誰能使其收回呢？

「到那日，雅各的榮耀必衰微，他肥壯的身體必消瘦；

然而，你成群的外敵必變得像細小的灰塵，那些成群的強橫者必像被吹散的糠秕。頃刻之間，萬軍之耶和華必突然用雷霆、地震、巨響、旋風、狂風和吞噬的火焰來懲罰他們。攻打亞利伊勒的萬國眾軍，所有攻打亞利伊勒和它要塞的，以及使它受困苦的，都必像一場夢幻，又如夜間的異象——他們像飢餓的人在夢中吃飯，醒來後仍然飢餓；又像口渴的人在夢中喝水，醒來後仍然口渴、發昏。攻打錫安山的萬國眾軍也必如此。

那時，羊羔必來吃草，如同在自己的草場；寄居者也在富有人的廢墟中吃食。

因為你對我發怒，你的驕奢安逸上達我的耳中，所以我要把鉤子放進你的鼻孔，把嚼環放入你的嘴裡，我必使你從原路返回。

每一個在戰亂中所穿的軍靴和滾在血中的戰袍，都必燒毀，成為燒火的燃料。

於是耶和華的使者出去，在亞述的營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；清早人們起來，看哪，所見的都是死屍！

主的一位天使立刻擊打希律，因為他沒有把榮耀歸給神。他被蟲咬蝕，就斷了氣。

以賽亞對他們說：「你們要這樣告訴你們的主人：『耶和華如此說：你不要因為聽見亞述王的僕人們褻瀆我的話而害怕。看哪！我要把一個靈放入亞述王裡面，讓他一聽見傳來的風聲就返回本土；我必使他在那裡倒在刀下。』」

因此，看哪，主必使幼發拉底河強盛的大水，就是亞述王和他所有的威勢，上漲淹沒他們，又上漲淹沒一切水道，漫過所有的河岸；

耶和華說：「現在我要起來，現在我要被高舉，現在我要受尊崇。你們所懷的是乾草，所生的是麥稭；你們的鼻息是吞噬自己的火。眾民必被燒成灰燼，好像砍下的荊棘在火中燒掉。遠方的人哪，你們要聽我所做的事！近處的人哪，你們要知道我的大能！」罪人在錫安懼怕，不敬虔的人被戰兢抓住，說：「我們中間誰能與吞噬之火同住？我們中間誰能與不滅之焰共居？」

亞述王樹林和果園的榮美必全然滅絕，好像病重的人消逝那樣。
