I will turn my power against you. I will make you completely‘ clean.’ I will remove everything that is not pure.

He will sit like a refiner of silver, burning away the dross. He will purify the Levites, refining them like gold and silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the Lord.

Then I said,“ Lord, how long will this go on?” And he replied,“ Until their towns are empty, their houses are deserted, and the whole country is a wasteland;until the Lord has sent everyone away, and the entire land of Israel lies deserted.If even a tenth— a remnant— survive, it will be invaded again and burned. But as a terebinth or oak tree leaves a stump when it is cut down, so Israel’s stump will be a holy seed.”

Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says:“ See, I will melt them down in a crucible and test them like metal. What else can I do with my people?

The Lord will wash the filth from beautiful Zion and cleanse Jerusalem of its bloodstains with the hot breath of fiery judgment.

On that day you will no longer need to be ashamed, for you will no longer be rebels against me. I will remove all proud and arrogant people from among you. There will be no more haughtiness on my holy mountain.

Once like pure silver, you have become like worthless slag. Once so pure, you are now like watered down wine.

I will purge you of all those who rebel and revolt against me. I will bring them out of the countries where they are in exile, but they will never enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

and you will melt like silver in fierce heat. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have poured out my fury on you.’”

The bellows fiercely fan the flames to burn out the corruption. But it does not purify them, for the wickedness remains.

Just as silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin are melted down in a furnace, I will melt you down in the heat of my fury.

I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
