Foreigners sap his strength, but he does not realize it. His hair is sprinkled with gray, but he does not notice.

People from other lands make them weaker and weaker. But they don’t realize it. Their hair is becoming gray. But they don’t even notice it.

Strangers devour his strength, and he knows it not; gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, and he knows it not.

義人死亡，無人放在心上；虔誠的人被接去，無人理解；義人被接去，以免禍患。

你們的土地荒蕪，城鎮被火燒燬；你們的田地在你們眼前被陌生人侵吞，既被陌生人傾覆，就成為荒蕪。

但這百姓是被搶被奪的，全都陷在洞穴中，關在監牢裏；他們成了掠物，無人拯救，成了擄物，無人索還。你們中間誰肯側耳聽這話，誰肯留心聽，以防將來呢？誰將雅各交出作為擄物，將以色列交給搶奪者呢？豈不是耶和華－我們所得罪的那位嗎？他們不肯遵行他的道，也不聽從他的訓誨。所以，他將猛烈的怒氣和戰爭的威力傾倒在以色列身上；在他周圍如火燃起，他竟然不知，燒着了，他也不在意。

於是，耶和華的怒氣向以色列發作，將他們屢次交在亞蘭王哈薛和他兒子便‧哈達的手裏。約哈斯懇求耶和華，耶和華就應允他，因為耶和華看見以色列所受的欺壓，因亞蘭王欺壓他們。耶和華賜給以色列一位拯救者，使他們脫離亞蘭人的手，於是以色列人仍舊安居在自己的帳棚裏。然而他們不離開耶羅波安家使以色列陷入罪裏的那罪，仍行在罪中，並且在撒瑪利亞留下亞舍拉。亞蘭王滅絕約哈斯的軍隊，踐踏他們如禾場上的塵沙，只給約哈斯留下五十騎兵，十輛戰車，一萬步兵。

亞述王普勒來攻擊這地，米拿現給他一千他連得銀子，為了請普勒幫助他鞏固他所掌握的國度。

約哈斯在位年間，亞蘭王哈薛屢次欺壓以色列。
