Foreigners sap his strength, but he does not realize it. His hair is sprinkled with gray, but he does not notice.

People from other lands make them weaker and weaker. But they don’t realize it. Their hair is becoming gray. But they don’t even notice it.

Strangers devour his strength, and he knows it not; gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, and he knows it not.

他們所種的是風，所收的是暴風；所種的不成禾稼，就是發苗也不結實；即便結實，外邦人必吞吃。

你必說：人打我，我卻未受傷；人鞭打我，我竟不覺得。我幾時清醒，我仍去尋酒。

義人死亡，無人放在心上；虔誠人被收去，無人思念。這義人被收去是免了將來的禍患；

你們的地土已經荒涼；你們的城邑被火焚毀。你們的田地在你們眼前為外邦人所侵吞，既被外邦人傾覆就成為荒涼。

但這百姓是被搶被奪的，都牢籠在坑中，隱藏在獄裏；他們作掠物，無人拯救，作擄物，無人說交還。你們中間誰肯側耳聽此，誰肯留心而聽，以防將來呢？誰將雅各交出當作擄物，將以色列交給搶奪的呢？豈不是耶和華嗎？就是我們所得罪的那位。他們不肯遵行他的道，也不聽從他的訓誨。所以，他將猛烈的怒氣和爭戰的勇力傾倒在以色列的身上。在他四圍如火着起，他還不知道，燒着他，他也不介意。

於是，耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作，將他們屢次交在亞蘭王哈薛和他兒子便‧哈達的手裏。約哈斯懇求耶和華，耶和華就應允他，因為見以色列人所受亞蘭王的欺壓。耶和華賜給以色列人一位拯救者，使他們脫離亞蘭人的手；於是以色列人仍舊安居在家裏。然而他們不離開耶羅波安家使以色列人陷在罪裏的那罪，仍然去行，並且在撒馬利亞留下亞舍拉。亞蘭王滅絕約哈斯的民，踐踏他們如禾場上的塵沙，只給約哈斯留下五十馬兵，十輛戰車，一萬步兵。

亞述王普勒來攻擊以色列國，米拿現給他一千他連得銀子，請普勒幫助他堅定國位。

約哈斯年間，亞蘭王哈薛屢次欺壓以色列人。
