這樣看來，如果藉著利未人的祭司制度能達到完全的地步（人民是在這制度下領受律法的），為甚麼還需要照著麥基洗德的體系，另外興起一位祭司，而不照著亞倫的體系呢？祭司的制度既然更改了，律法也必須更改。因為這些話所指的那位，原是屬於另外一個支派的，這支派向來沒有人在祭壇前供職。我們的主明明是從猶大支派出來的，關於這個支派，摩西並沒有提及祭司的事。如果有另一位像麥基洗德那樣的祭司興起來，那麼，這裡所說的就更明顯了。

給以色列人作鑒戒，叫不是亞倫子孫的外人，不可近前來，在耶和華面前燒香，免得他像可拉和他的同黨有一樣的遭遇；這是照著耶和華藉摩西吩咐以利亞撒的。

每一個大祭司都是從人間選出來，奉派替人辦理與神有關的事，為的是要獻上禮物和贖罪的祭物。

他們阻止烏西雅王，對他說：“烏西雅啊，給耶和華燒香不是你應作的事，而是亞倫的子孫作祭司的事，他們是分別為聖作燒香的事；請離開聖所吧，因為你作了不應該作的事了，你必不能從耶和華神那裡得著尊榮。”於是烏西雅十分忿怒，手裡拿著香爐正要燒香，他向眾祭司發怒的時候，就在耶和華的殿裡香壇旁邊眾祭司的面前，他的額上忽然長出了大痲風。

你們要看守聖所和祭壇，免得震怒再臨到以色列人。

因著信，亞伯比該隱獻上更美的祭品給神；藉著這信心，他被神稱許為義人，這是神指著他的禮物所作的見證；他雖然死了，卻藉著信仍然說話。

以色列人對摩西說：“我們要死了，我們滅亡了，我們都滅亡了。走近耶和華帳幕的，都必定死；難道我們都要死嗎？”
