For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.Now when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will happen,“ Death has been swallowed up in victory.”“ Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Many of those who sleep in the dusty ground will awake– some to everlasting life, and others to shame and everlasting abhorrence.

Also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him, and some were asking,“ What does this foolish babbler want to say?” Others said,“ He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods.”( They said this because he was proclaiming the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.)

While Paul was discussing righteousness, self- control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said,“ Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I realized there were a great many bones in the valley and they were very dry.He said to me,“ Son of man, can these bones live?” I said to him,“ Sovereign Lord, you know.”Then he said to me,“ Prophesy over these bones, and tell them:‘ Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.This is what the sovereign LORD says to these bones: Look, I am about to infuse breath into you and you will live.I will put tendons on you and muscles over you and will cover you with skin; I will put breath in you and you will live. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”So I prophesied as I was commanded. There was a sound when I prophesied– I heard a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to bone.As I watched, I saw tendons on them, then muscles appeared, and skin covered over them from above, but there was no breath in them.He said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath,– prophesy, son of man– and say to the breath:‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these corpses so that they may live.’”So I prophesied as I was commanded, and the breath came into them; they lived and stood on their feet, an extremely great army.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Look, they are saying,‘ Our bones are dry, our hope has perished; we are cut off.’Therefore prophesy, and tell them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I am about to open your graves and will raise you from your graves, my people. I will bring you to the land of Israel.Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and raise you from your graves, my people.I will place my breath in you and you will live; I will give you rest in your own land. Then you will know that I am the LORD– I have spoken and I will act, declares the LORD.’”

Now a dispute came about between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew concerning ceremonial washing.So they came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, the one who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River, about whom you testified– see, he is baptizing, and everyone is flocking to him!”

And I did not recognize him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me,‘ The one on whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining– this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

“ No one can withhold the water for these people to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”

At that hour of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and all his family were baptized right away.

Now when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that he was winning and baptizing more disciples than John( although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples were),

But when they believed Philip as he was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they began to be baptized, both men and women.Even Simon himself believed, and after he was baptized, he stayed close to Philip constantly, and when he saw the signs and great miracles that were occurring, he was amazed.Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.These two went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit.( For the Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans, and they received the Holy Spirit.Now Simon, when he saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, offered them money,

and said to them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They replied,“ No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”So Paul said,“ Into what then were you baptized?”“ Into John’s baptism,” they replied.Paul said,“ John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus.”When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus,and when Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they began to speak in tongues and to prophesy.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added.

The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned.

Then when Paul noticed that part of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, he shouted out in the council,“ Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection of the dead!”

“ When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.All the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.Then the king will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’Then the righteous will answer him,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or naked and clothe you?When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’And the king will answer them,‘ I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.’“ Then he will say to those on his left,‘ Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink.I was a stranger and you did not receive me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’Then they too will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not give you whatever you needed?’Then he will answer them,‘ I tell you the truth, just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.’And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Why do you people think it is unbelievable that God raises the dead?

I have a hope in God( a hope that these men themselves accept too) that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

after they were disobedient long ago when God patiently waited in the days of Noah as an ark was being constructed. In the ark a few, that is eight souls, were delivered through water.And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you– not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience to God– through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Then, after they had fasted and prayed and placed their hands on them, they sent them off.

They served only for matters of food and drink and various washings; they are external regulations imposed until the new order came.

and women received back their dead raised to life. But others were tortured, not accepting release, to obtain resurrection to a better life.

Having been buried with him in baptism, you also have been raised with him through your faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead.

The same day Sadducees( who say there is no resurrection) came to him and asked him,“ Teacher, Moses said,‘ If a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and father children for his brother.’Now there were seven brothers among us. He is not the God of the dead but of the living!”

For God will evaluate every deed, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Your dead will come back to life; your corpses will rise up. Wake up and shout joyfully, you who live in the ground! For you will grow like plants drenched with the morning dew, and the earth will bring forth its dead spirits.

angry because they were teaching the people and announcing in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians.For we tell you this by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not go ahead of those who have fallen asleep.For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. But John tried to prevent him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.

who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.

Now as they were going along the road, they came to some water, and the eunuch said,“ Look, there is water! What is to stop me from being baptized?”

and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

other than this one thing I shouted out while I stood before them:‘ I am on trial before you today concerning the resurrection of the dead.’”

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.Then I saw a large white throne and the one who was seated on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Then books were opened, and another book was opened– the book of life. So the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds.The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds.Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death– the lake of fire.If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, that person was thrown into the lake of fire.

But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, by being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Now I mean this, that each of you is saying,“ I am with Paul,” or“ I am with Apollos,” or“ I am with Cephas,” or“ I am with Christ.”Is Christ divided? Paul wasn’t crucified for you, was he? Or were you in fact baptized in the name of Paul?I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name!( I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Otherwise, I do not remember whether I baptized anyone else.)For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel– and not with clever speech, so that the cross of Christ would not become useless.

Then you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Having no regard for the command of God, you hold fast to human tradition.”

The Pharisee was astonished when he saw that Jesus did not first wash his hands before the meal.

John answered them all,“ I baptize you with water, but one more powerful than I am is coming– I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed!He will reward each one according to his works:eternal life to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality,but wrath and anger to those who live in selfish ambition and do not obey the truth but follow unrighteousness.There will be affliction and distress on everyone who does evil, on the Jew first and also the Greek,but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, for the Jew first and also the Greek.

They have strayed from the truth by saying that the resurrection has already occurred, and they are undermining some people’s faith.

I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is finished!

Martha said,“ I know that he will come back to life again in the resurrection at the last day.”Jesus said to her,“ I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies,

and will come out– the ones who have done what is good to the resurrection resulting in life, and the ones who have done what is evil to the resurrection resulting in condemnation.

For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Whether Jews or Greeks or slaves or free, we were all made to drink of the one Spirit.
