切勿有所懈弛、當踵效昔賢、篤信不移、堅忍不拔、而終得承嗣恩諾也。

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

We don’t want you to slow down. Instead, be like those who have faith and are patient. They will receive what God promised.

so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.

I went by the field of the sluggard, And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, The face thereof was covered with nettles, And the stone wall thereof was broken down.Then I beheld, and considered well; I saw, and received instruction:Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep;So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.

He also that is slack in his work Is brother to him that is a destroyer.

Thus saith Jehovah, Stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk therein.

If any man is for captivity, into captivity he goeth: if any man shall kill with the sword, with the sword must he be killed. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation?

If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, And feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.

I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:

so that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which ye endure;

But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter;

And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Here is the patience of the saints, they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway.

who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out unto a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:for he looked for the city which hath the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea- shore, innumerable.These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own.And if indeed they had been mindful of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.By faith Abraham, being tried, offered up Isaac: yea, he that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;

knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.

And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

For after this manner aforetime the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose children ye now are, if ye do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.

and the father of circumcision to them who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which he had in uncircumcision.

Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

to them that by patience in well- doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:

But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the place concerning the Bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

But if we hope for that which we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered;

Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.Behold, we call them blessed that endured: ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
