God promised that those people would never enjoy the rest he planned for them. God gave his word when he made that promise. Didn’t he make that promise to those who didn’t obey?

又向谁起誓，不容他们进入他的安息呢？岂不是向那些不信从的人吗？

他又向谁起誓说，他们绝不能进入他的安息呢？难道不是向那些不肯信从的人吗？

又向誰起誓，不容他們進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些不信從的人嗎？

上帝起誓不准誰進入祂的安息呢？不就是那些不肯信從的人嗎？

他又向誰起誓說，他們絕對不可以進入他的安息呢？不就是向那些不順從的人嗎？

他向誰起誓說、他們必不得以進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些硬不信從的人是向誰呢？

他又向誰起誓說，他們絕不能進入他的安息呢？難道不是向那些不肯信從的人嗎？

又誓之不得入其安息者誰耶、非不順從者乎、

上帝誓之、不許享其安息者誰、非不信之徒乎、

天主誓之、不許享其安息者誰、非違背違背或作不信之人乎、

天主所誓：「不令入吾安寧」者、又誰耶？非心懷狐疑之諸悖逆乎？

And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?

And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him?

And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who disobeyed?

And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?

And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that were disobedient?

And who did He swear to that they would not enter His rest, if not those who disobeyed?

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

And to whom did he swear they would never enter into his rest, except those who were disobedient?

To whom did he swear that they wouldn’t enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

The good news was announced to our people of long ago. It has also been preached to us. The message they heard didn’t have any value for them. That’s because they didn’t share the faith of those who obeyed.

The Lord heard what you said. So he became angry. He made a promise. He said,“ I promised to give this good land to your people of long ago. But no one alive today will see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

It is still true that some people will enjoy this rest. But those who had the good news announced to them earlier didn’t go in. That’s because they didn’t obey.

I lifted up my hand and promised to make this land your home. But now not all of you will enter the land. Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, will enter it. So will Joshua, the son of Nun. They are the only ones who will enter the land.

The Lord said to Moses,“ How long will these people not respect me? How long will they refuse to believe in me? They refuse even though I have done many signs among them.

But you wouldn’t go up. You refused to obey the command of the Lord your God.You spoke against him in your tents. You said,“ The Lord hates us. That’s why he brought us out of Egypt to hand us over to the Amorites. He wanted to destroy us.Where can we go? The men who checked out the land have made us afraid. They say,‘ The people are stronger and taller than we are. The cities are large. They have walls that reach up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.’ ”Then I said to you,“ Don’t be terrified. Don’t be afraid of them.The Lord your God will go ahead of you. He will fight for you. With your own eyes you saw how he fought for you in Egypt.You also saw how the Lord your God brought you through the desert. He carried you everywhere you went, just as a father carries his son. And now you have arrived here.”In spite of that, you didn’t trust in the Lord your God.

Later on, they refused to enter the pleasant land of Canaan. They didn’t believe God’s promise.In their tents they told the Lord how unhappy they were. They didn’t obey him.So he lifted up his hand and promised that he would make them die in the desert.

But the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said,“ You did not trust in me enough to honor me. You did not honor me as the holy God in front of the Israelites. So you will not bring this community into the land I am giving them.”

The Lord sent you out from Kadesh Barnea. He said,“ Go up and take over the land I have given you.” But you refused to do what the Lord your God had commanded you to do. You didn’t trust him or obey him.

So when I was angry, I made a promise. I said,‘ They will never enjoy the rest I planned for them.’ ”( Psalm 95:7–11)
