and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Jesus could set people free who were afraid of death. All their lives they were held as slaves by that fear.

and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

蓋爾曹非受為奴之神、復致畏懼、乃受為子之神、因而呼曰阿爸父也、

蓋上帝非賜我儕以畏葸之心、乃以能與愛及自守者也、

我心痛甚、死亡之懼臨我兮、

蓋望受造之物、亦脫於敗壞之束縛、得入上帝眾子自由之榮、

使我拯於敵手、畢生以聖以義於其前、無所懼而事之、

兄弟乎、我謂血氣不能承上帝國、必朽不能承不朽、我以奧秘示爾、我儕不盡寢而將盡化、頃刻瞬息間、於末次角響時則然、蓋角將響、死者見起而不朽、而我儕化矣、此必朽者將衣以不朽、必死者將衣以不死、必朽者既衣以不朽、必死者既衣以不死、所言死被消滅者、應矣、死乎、爾勝安在、死乎、爾鋒安在、死之鋒罪也、罪之權律也、感謝上帝賜我儕由主耶穌基督得勝焉、

昔拯我於危亡、今亦拯我、且望其復拯我焉、

威烈四起、使之驚惶、追逐其後、

肉消不見、素未顯露之骨、亦皆凸出、其魂臨乎坑坎、其命近於殄滅、設有天使千中之一、與之同在、為之解釋、示人所當為者、則上帝憫之曰、可援之、免其陷於坑坎、我得一贖之者矣、其膚光潤、勝於幼稚、轉為少年、祈禱上帝、蒙其悅納、使之歡然覲見、而復其人之義、彼則歌於人前曰、昔我干罪、顚覆正義、所為無益、上帝救贖我魂、免入坑坎、我之生命、復睹光明、

蓋爾拯我魂於死亡、豈不佑我足、不至顚蹶、俾我行於生命光中、在上帝前兮、

救其魂於死亡、保其生於饑饉兮、

猝然荒寂、因威烈而滅沒兮、

若輩視平旦如幽暗、因知幽暗之可懼也、

何人生而不死、自拯其魂、脫於陰府之勢乎、

彼必見拔於所恃之幕、攜詣威烈之王、

爾願服律者其告我、爾不聞律乎、
