so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

Join in imitating me, brothers, and observe those who live according to the example you have in us.

When they had appointed elders in every church and prayed with fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

and you became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit.

“ Who then is a faithful and sensible slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them food at the proper time?

If you do not know, most beautiful of women, follow the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats near the shepherds’ tents.

This is why we constantly thank God, because when you received the message about God that you heard from us, you welcomed it not as a human message, but as it truly is, the message of God, which also works effectively in you believers.

So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the people slaughtered because of God’s word and the testimony they had.

Therefore I urge you to imitate me.

It is not that we don’t have the right to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate us.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape so that you are able to bear it.

“ This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.

For you yourselves know how you must imitate us: We were not irresponsible among you;

Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said:“ It was necessary that God’s message be spoken to you first. But since you reject it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles!

But Stephen, filled by the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven. He saw God’s glory, with Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said,“ Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”Then they screamed at the top of their voices, covered their ears, and together rushed against him.They threw him out of the city and began to stone him. And the witnesses laid their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul.They were stoning Stephen as he called out:“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep.
