“ You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts.“ Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.

爾望多而得少、攜之而歸、我則噓之、萬軍之耶和華曰、此何故耶、因我室荒涼、爾各亟於己室也、

昔爾慕多得少、攜物至家、我吹之飄沒者、誠何故耶、因爾各顧其廬、而我殿宇傾圮、毫不介意、萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。

“ You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty.“ Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.

“ You expected a lot. But you can see what a small amount it turned out to be. I blew away what you brought home. I’ll tell you why,” announces the Lord who rules over all.“ Because my temple is still destroyed. In spite of that, each one of you is busy with your own house.

You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, while all of you are busy building your own fine houses.

“ You start an ambitious project, but behold, it comes to little; when you bring it home, I blow it away. Why?” declares the Lord of armies.“ It is because of My house which remains desolate, while each of you runs to his own house.

“ Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?”

The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass.

“ You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”

I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times.I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more?Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore?Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? SelahAnd I said,“ This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Then the channels of the sea were seen, The foundations of the world were uncovered, At the rebuke of the Lord, At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

So the Lord said to Joshua:“ Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face?Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff.Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you.Get up, sanctify the people, and say,‘ sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel:“ There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.”In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes. And it shall be that the tribe which the Lord takes shall come according to families; and the family which the Lord takes shall come by households; and the household which the Lord takes shall come man by man.Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”

Surely I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’”

Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered,“ It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites.”

For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, And have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold, Therefore you will plant pleasant plants And set out foreign seedlings;In the day you will make your plant to grow, And in the morning you will make your seed to flourish; But the harvest will be a heap of ruins In the day of grief and desperate sorrow.

“ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say,‘ In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts,“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.“ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;

If you will not hear, And if you will not take it to heart, To give glory to My name,” Says the Lord of hosts,“ I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, Because you do not take it to heart.

He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

since those days, when one came to a heap of twenty ephahs, there were but ten; when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty baths from the press, there were but twenty.I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me,’ says the Lord.

I will say to God,‘ Do not condemn me; Show me why You contend with me.
