众民劳碌得来的，被火焚烧；列国辛劳而得的，终归无有。这不都出于万军之耶和华吗？

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

列邦的财富都化为灰烬，列国劳碌却是一场空。这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？

眾民所勞碌得來的被火焚燒，列國由勞乏而得的歸於虛空，不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

列邦的財富都化為灰燼，列國勞碌卻是一場空。這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

看哪，萬族之民只為了給火焚燒而勞碌，列國之民只為了虛空而疲乏，不都是出於萬軍之永恆主麼？

諸民勞力乃為火、列邦辛苦歸於虛、此非由於萬軍之耶和華乎、

爾使列邦之民、屬役良苦、竭力築城、萬有之主耶和華、必使之焚燬殆盡、歸於烏有、

眾民辛苦經營、悉為火所焚、萬族劬勞疲憊、俱屬徒然、皆萬有之主所命、

Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?

I am the Lord who rules over all. Human effort is no better than wood that feeds a fire. So the nations wear themselves out for nothing.

Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?

Has not the Lord of Heaven’s Armies promised that the wealth of nations will turn to ashes? They work so hard, but all in vain!

Is it not from the LORD of Armies that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies That peoples labor merely for fire, And nations become weary for nothing?

Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts That the peoples labor to feed the fire, And nations weary themselves in vain?

Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

Is it not from the Lord of Hosts that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Behold,[ is it] not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

Be sure of this! The LORD who commands armies has decreed: The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing.

Behold, isn’t it of Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

万军之耶和华这样说：“巴比伦宽阔的城墙必被夷为平地，它高大的城门必被焚烧；万民所劳碌的都必成空，万族所辛劳的都付诸一炬。”

看哪！你们点火的，用火把围绕自己的，都行在你们火焰的光里，都走在你们所燃点的火把中吧！这是你们从我手里所要得的：你们必躺卧在痛苦之中。

任何智慧、聪明、谋略都不能敌挡耶和华。

他使有智慧的人中了自己的诡计，使奸诈人的谋算快快失败。他们白天遇见黑暗，中午摸索如在夜间。

耶和华说：“看哪，他们同是一个民族，有一样的语言，他们一开始就作这事，以后他们所要作的一切，就没有可以拦阻他们的了。来，我们下去，在那里混乱他们的语言，使他们听不懂对方的话。”于是，耶和华把他们从那里分散到全地上，他们就停止建造那城。因此，那城的名就叫巴别，因为耶和华在那里混乱了全地所有的人的语言，又从那里把他们分散在全地上。

如果不是耶和华建造房屋，建造的人就徒然劳苦；如果不是耶和华看守城池，看守的人就徒然警醒。（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）你们清早起来，很晚才歇息，吃劳碌得来的饭，都是徒然；因为主必使他所爱的安睡。

如果以东说：“我们虽然遭破坏，但仍要把废墟重建起来。”万军之耶和华这样说：“他们只管建造，我却要拆毁。人要称他们为罪恶的境地，为耶和华永远恼怒的子民。”

你们为什么用银子去买那不是食物的呢？为什么用你们劳碌得来的去买那不能使人饱足的呢？你们要留心听我的话，就可以吃美物，使你们的心灵享受肥甘。

众海岛看见了，就都惧怕；地极也都战兢；他们都近前来。各人彼此帮助，对自己的兄弟说：“要坚强！”木匠坚固金匠，用锤打光金属的，鼓励打砧的；论銲工说：“銲得好！”又用钉子钉稳了。使偶像不致动摇。但你以色列，我的仆人啊！雅各，我所拣选、我朋友亚伯拉罕的后裔啊！

世人来来往往只是幻影，他们忙乱也是虚空；积聚财物，却不知道谁要来收取。

有人告诉大卫说：“亚希多弗也在押沙龙的叛党之中。”大卫祷告说：“耶和华啊，求你使亚希多弗的计谋变为愚拙。”

然后说：‘巴比伦必因耶和华（“耶和华”原文作“我”）所要降给它的灾祸，照样沉下去，不再浮上来；它的人民也必灭没。’”耶利米的话到此为止。
