既然上帝也没有宽容上古的世界，曾叫洪水临到那不敬虔的世界，只保护了报公义信息的挪亚一家八口；

在洪水以前的那些日子，人照常吃喝嫁娶，直到挪亚进方舟的那日，

但我要与你立约；你同你的儿子、妻子和媳妇都要进入方舟。

通达人见祸就藏躲；愚蒙人却前往受害。

正在那日，挪亚和他的儿子闪、含、雅弗，以及挪亚的妻子和三个媳妇，都一同进入方舟。他们和一切走兽，各从其类；一切牲畜，各从其类；地上爬的一切爬行动物，各从其类；一切的鸟，就是一切有翅膀的飞禽，各从其类；凡有生命气息的血肉之躯，都一对一对到挪亚那里，进入方舟。

藉这两件不可更改的事—在这些事上，上帝绝不会说谎—我们这些逃往避难所的人能得到强有力的鼓励，去抓住那摆在我们前头的指望。

就是那些从前在挪亚预备方舟、上帝容忍等待的时候不信从的人。当时进入方舟，藉着水得救的不多，只有八个人。

因着信，挪亚既蒙上帝指示他未见的事，动了敬畏的心，造了方舟，使他全家得救。藉此他定了那世代的罪，自己也承受了那从信而来的义。
