神也沒有姑息上古的世界，反而使洪水臨到那不敬虔的世人，只保存了傳義道的挪亞一家八口。

他們就是挪亞建造方舟的日子、神容忍等待的時候，那些不順從的人。當時進入方舟、藉著水得救的人不多，只有八個。

因著信，挪亞在還沒有看見的事上，得了神的警告，就動了敬畏的心，做了一艘方舟，使他全家得救。藉著這信心，他就定了那世代的罪，自己也承受了那因信而來的義。

挪亞的時代怎樣，人子的時代也是怎樣。當時人們吃喝嫁娶，直到挪亞進入方舟的那一天，洪水來了，把他們全都滅掉。

海水一回流，就淹沒了馬車、馬兵和那些跟著以色列人下海去的法老的全軍，連一個也沒有餘下。以色列人卻在海中走乾地，水在他們的左右作了牆垣。這樣，耶和華就在那一天把以色列人從埃及人的手裡拯救了出來；以色列人看見埃及人都死在海邊。

你六次遭遇患難，他都救拔你，就算第七次，災禍也傷不了你。

看哪！耶和華使大地空虛，變為荒涼；他必翻轉地面，使地上的居民四散。人民和祭司，僕人和主人，婢女和主母，購買的和販賣的，借給人和向人借的，放債的和借債的，全都一樣被分散。大地必完全倒空，被劫掠淨盡，這話是耶和華說的。大地悲哀衰殘，世界零落衰殘，地上居高位的人也衰敗了。大地被其上的居民玷污，因為他們犯了律法，違了律例，背了永遠的約。因此，大地被咒詛吞滅，地上的居民要承擔懲罰。因此，地上的居民被焚燒，剩下的人很少。新酒悲哀，葡萄樹衰殘，心中歡樂的，變為歎息。擊鼓的喜樂止息，宴樂者的喧嘩停止，彈琴的喜樂也止息了。

主知道怎樣搭救敬虔的人脫離試探，又把不義的人留下來，等候在審判的日子受刑罰，

萬軍之耶和華說：“在我施行作為的日子，他們要屬我，作特別的產業；我必憐恤他們，好像人憐恤那服事自己的兒子一樣。那時，你們就要再看出義人與惡人、事奉神的人和不事奉他的人之間有甚麼分別。”

住在至高者的隱密處的，必在全能者的蔭庇下安居。

凡有生命仍在地上行動的，無論是飛鳥或是牲畜，走獸或是在地上滋生的各樣小生物，以及所有的人都死了；仍在陸地上，鼻孔裡有氣息的生靈都死了。

當時的世界，因被水淹沒而消滅了。

即使有挪亞、但以理和約伯這三個人，他們也只能因自己的義救自己的性命。這是主耶和華的宣告。如果我使猛獸經過那地，蹂躪那地，使它荒涼，以致因為這些獸的緣故，沒有人敢經過；即使有這三個人在其中，我指著我的永生起誓，他們只能救自己，連兒女也不能救，那地卻仍然荒涼。這是主耶和華的宣告。如果我使刀劍臨到那地，說：‘願刀劍經過那地，好讓我把人和牲畜從那地剪除。’即使有這三個人在其中，主耶和華說：我指著我的永生起誓，他們只能救自己，連兒女也不能救。如果我使瘟疫流行那地，藉著流血的事把我的烈怒傾倒在那地上，使人和牲畜都從那地剪除；即使當中有挪亞、但以理和約伯，我指著我的永生起誓，他們只能因自己的義救自己的性命，連兒女也不能救。這是主耶和華的宣告。”

在神發怒的日子，財物毫無益處；唯有公義能救人脫離死亡。

他們要進入永遠的刑罰，義人卻要進入永生。”

你要謹守古往的道，就是惡人所行走的嗎？他們未到時候，就被抓去，他們的根基被洪水沖去。他們對神說：‘離開我們吧！全能者能把我們怎麼樣呢？’
