Godly Jews buried Stephen. They mourned deeply for him.

Elisha had been suffering from a sickness. Later he would die from it. Jehoash, the king of Israel, went down to see him. Jehoash wept over him.“ My father!” he cried.“ You are like a father to me! You, Elisha, are the true chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

Make sure your children learn them. Talk about them when you are at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road. Speak about them when you go to bed. And speak about them when you get up.Write them down and tie them on your hands as a reminder. Also tie them on your foreheads.

Jesus wept.Then the Jews said,“ See how much he loved him!”But some of them said,“ He opened the eyes of the blind man. Couldn’t he have kept this man from dying?”Once more Jesus felt very sad. He came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone in front of the entrance.

They came to the home of the synagogue leader. There Jesus saw a lot of confusion. People were crying and sobbing loudly.He went inside. Then he said to them,“ Why all this confusion and sobbing? The child is not dead. She is only sleeping.”

She died at Kiriath Arba. Kiriath Arba is also called Hebron. It’s in the land of Canaan. Sarah’s death made Abraham very sad. He went to the place where her body was lying. There he wept over her.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.

Fathers, don’t make your children angry. Instead, instruct them and teach them the ways of the Lord as you raise them.
