After some time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, because she said,“ I requested him from the Lord.”

Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife:“ May the Lord give you children by this woman in place of the one she has given to the Lord.” Then they would go home.The Lord paid attention to Hannah’s need, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord.

May God give to you— from the dew of the sky and from the richness of the land— an abundance of grain and new wine.May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brothers; may your mother’s sons bow down to you. Those who curse you will be cursed, and those who bless you will be blessed.

Obed-edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth, for God blessed him.

Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, children, a reward.

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you so that you become an assembly of peoples.May God give you and your offspring the blessing of Abraham so that you may possess the land where you live as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.”
