Jacob said to Joseph,“ God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and there he blessed me

So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan( the same is Beth- el), he and all the people that were with him.And he built there an altar, and called the place El- beth- el; because there God was revealed unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

having the glory of God: her light was like unto a stone most precious, as it were a jasper stone, clear as crystal:

And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came from Paddan- aram, and blessed him.And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;and the land which I gave unto Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.

And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Beth- el.( Now the name of the city beforetime was Luz.)

And he dreamed; and behold, a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold, the angels of God ascending and descending on it.And, behold, Jehovah stood above it, and said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely Jehovah is in this place; and I knew it not.And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.And he called the name of that place Beth- el: but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a company of peoples;
