但他們沒有一個能把他的兄弟贖回，或把他的贖價交給神，

“人在世上怎能沒有勞役呢？他的日子不像雇工的日子嗎？

按著定命，人人都要死一次，死後還有審判。

使他永遠活著，不見朽壞。

有哪一個人能長活不死，能救自己的性命脫離陰間的權勢呢？（細拉）

人若死了，怎能再活呢？我要在我一切勞苦的日子等待，等到我得釋放的時候來到。

於是雅各下了埃及。後來他和我們祖先都死了，運到示劍，埋葬在亞伯拉罕用銀子向哈抹子孫買來的墳地裡。

因著信，約瑟臨終的時候，提到以色列子民出埃及的事，並且為自己的骸骨留下遺言。

我們都是必死的，像水潑在地上不能收回來一樣；但神並不取去人的命，反而設法使逃亡的人不致永遠離開他逃亡。

因為在死亡之地無人記念你，在陰間有誰稱謝你呢？

你必汗流滿面，才有飯吃，直到你歸回地土，因為你是從地土取出來的；你既然是塵土，就要歸回塵土。”

我知道你必使我歸回死地，歸到那為眾生所定的陰宅。

雅各回答法老：“我寄居在世的年日是一百三十歲。我一生的年日又少又苦，不及我祖先寄居在世的年日。”

到了你的壽數滿足，你與你的列祖一起長眠的時候，我必興起你親生的後裔接替你，並且我要堅固他的國。
