And people from all around came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph because the famine was severe throughout the world.

If you destroy these people, the Egyptians will say,“ The Israelites died because the Lord wasn’t able to bring them to the land he had promised to give them.” Or they might say,“ He destroyed them because he hated them; he deliberately took them into the wilderness to slaughter them.”

He called for a famine on the land of Canaan, cutting off its food supply.Then he sent someone to Egypt ahead of them— Joseph, who was sold as a slave.

When Jacob heard that grain was available in Egypt, he said to his sons,“ Why are you standing around looking at one another?

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
