七個荒年接踵而至，正如約瑟所言。各地都有饑荒，只有埃及全國有糧食。

七頭瘦弱、醜陋的母牛和七個乾癟、被東風吹乾的穗子也代表七年，是七年饑荒。

有一位先知名叫以利亞，是基列的提斯比人。他對亞哈說：「我憑我事奉的以色列的上帝——永活的耶和華起誓，如果我不禱告，這幾年必沒有雨水和甘露。」

迦得就來見大衛，對他說：「你願意國內有七年饑荒呢？還是被敵人追殺三個月呢？還是國內發生三天瘟疫呢？請你考慮好後告訴我，我好回覆那差我來的。」

以利沙曾經救活了一位書念婦人的兒子。他對那婦人說：「你和家人要離開這裡去別處寄居，因為耶和華已決定使這裡遭受七年饑荒。」

讓他們喝了忘掉貧窮，不再記得自己的痛苦。

約瑟給長子取名叫瑪拿西，因為他說：「上帝使我忘記一切的困苦和我父親家。」
