All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted.“ No,” he said,“ I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.” So his father wept for him.

曰我幼子必不可與爾同往、蓋其兄已死、惟彼獨留、若在爾所行之途遇害、則爾使我皓首悲慘歸示阿勒、

其家家或作宮廷、之老臣至其前、勸之自地起、不從、亦不食、亦不食原文作亦不與之偕食

時、約百三友、提幔人以利法、書亞人比勒達、拿瑪人瑣法、聞約百遭此諸難、遂各由己所而來、彼此相約、同往悲憫之、慰藉之、

主如是云、在拉瑪聞憂聲、即悲哀痛哭之聲、拉結哭其子、不肯受慰、以子無存故、

我遭遇患難、尋求主、夜間舉手不休、心中不得安逸、

我儕對曰、我乃篤實、誠非偵者、

以色列曰、足矣、我子約瑟尚在、我未死、必往見之、

以色列居彼地之時、流便烝父妾辟拉、後其父以色列聞之、雅各共有十二子、長子流便、又有西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫、為利亞之子、約瑟、便雅憫、為拉結之子、但、拿弗他利、為拉結婢辟拉之子、迦得、亞設、為利亞婢悉帕之子、是皆雅各在巴旦亞蘭所生之子、

今爾曹欲攜此子離我、設遇害、是使我皓首悲慘歸示阿勒、我父與童子相依為命、今我歸見我主之僕我父、而童子不與我偕、父見無童子則必死、如是、僕等將使吾主之僕我父皓首悲慘歸示阿勒、

拉班答雅各曰、斯女即我女、斯子即我子、斯畜即我畜、凡爾所見者悉屬於我、今此我女及其所生之子、我能為之何為、
