He went back to his brothers and said,“ The boy isn’t there! Where can I turn now?”

Then he went back to his brothers and lamented,“ The boy is gone! What will I do now?”

He returned to his brothers and said,“ The boy is not there; as for me, where am I to go?”

And he returned to his brothers and said,“ The lad is no more; and I, where shall I go?”

returned to his brothers, and said,“ The boy isn’t there! And I, where can I go?”

He returned to his brothers, and said,“ The child is no more; and I, where will I go?”

But they replied,“ We, your servants, were 12 brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan. The youngest is now with our father, and one is no longer living.”

This is what the Lord says: A voice was heard in Ramah, a lament with bitter weeping— Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children because they are no more.

We were 12 brothers, sons of the same father. One is no longer living, and the youngest is now with our father in the land of Canaan.

As they began emptying their sacks, there in each man’s sack was his bag of money! When they and their father saw their bags of money, they were afraid.Their father Jacob said to them,“ You have deprived me of my sons. Joseph is gone and Simeon is gone. Now you want to take Benjamin. Everything happens to me!”

Come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal ate him. Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”
