and Israel said to Joseph,“ As you know, your brothers are grazing the flocks near Shechem. Come, I am going to send you to them.”“ Very well,” he replied.

Israel said to Joseph,“ As you know, your brothers are taking care of the flocks near Shechem. Come. I’m going to send you to them.”“ All right,” Joseph replied.

And Israel said to Joseph,“ Are not your brothers pasturing the flock at Shechem? Come, I will send you to them.” And he said to him,“ Here I am.”

When they had been gone for some time, Jacob said to Joseph,“ Your brothers are pasturing the sheep at Shechem. Get ready, and I will send you to them.”“ I’m ready to go,” Joseph replied.

Israel said to Joseph,“ Your brothers, you know, are pasturing the flocks at Shechem. Get ready. I’m sending you to them.”“ I’m ready,” Joseph replied.

And Israel said to Joseph,“ Are your brothers not pasturing the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” And he said to him,“ I will go.”

And Israel said to Joseph,“ Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, I will send you to them.” So he said to him,“ Here I am.”

And Israel said unto Joseph, Are not thy brethren feeding the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

Israel said to Joseph,“ Your brothers, you know, are pasturing the flocks at Shechem. Get ready. I’m sending you to them.”“ I’m ready,” Joseph replied.

And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed[ the flock] in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here[ am I].

but Eli called him and said,“ Samuel, my son.” Samuel answered,“ Here I am.” (niv)

When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called for Esau his older son and said to him,“ My son.”“ Here I am,” he answered. (niv)

Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered,“ Here I am.”And he ran to Eli and said,“ Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said,“ I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.Again the Lord called,“ Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said,“ Here I am; you called me.”“ My son,” Eli said,“ I did not call; go back and lie down.” (niv)

A third time the Lord called,“ Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said,“ Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. (niv)

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him,“ Abraham!”“ Here I am,” he replied. (niv)

“ Then the owner of the vineyard said,‘ What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.’ (niv)

“ I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. (niv)

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.“ Honor your father and mother”— which is the first commandment with a promise—“ so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” (niv)

Now Jesse said to his son David,“ Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp.Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them.They are with Saul and all the men of Israel in the Valley of Elah, fighting against the Philistines.”Early in the morning David left the flock in the care of a shepherd, loaded up and set out, as Jesse had directed. He reached the camp as the army was going out to its battle positions, shouting the war cry. (niv)
