Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz( that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.

他就给那地方起名叫伯特利，但那城起初名叫路斯。

我立作石柱的那块石头，必作神的殿；你赐给我的一切，我必把十分之一献给你。”

约瑟家也上去攻打伯特利；耶和华与他们同在。约瑟家派人去窥探伯特利。那城从前的名字叫路斯。窥探的人看见一个人从城里出来，就对他说：“请你把进城的路指示我们，我们必恩待你。”那人把进城的路指示了他们，他们就用刀击杀了那城的居民，却把那人和他的全家都放走。那人到赫人之地去了，筑了一座城，给它起名叫路斯；直到今日那城还叫这名。

雅各对约瑟说：“全能的神曾经在迦南地的路斯向我显现，赐福给我，

后来他从那里迁到伯特利东边的山地，搭起帐棚。西边是伯特利，东边是艾城；他在那里也为耶和华筑了一座祭坛，呼求耶和华的名。
