After Jacob came from Paddan Aram, he arrived safely at the city of Shechem in Canaan and camped within sight of the city.

遗体被带回示剑，安放到亚伯拉罕在示剑用一笔银子从哈莫尔的子孙买来的坟墓里。

以撒娶莉白加为妻的时候正四十岁；莉白加是巴旦-亚兰地的亚兰人彼土利的女儿，是亚兰人拉班的妹妹。

这样就来到了撒马利亚的一个城，叫叙加。这城靠近雅各给他儿子约瑟的那块地，

起来，往巴旦-亚兰去，到你外祖父彼土利的家，你要在那里从你舅舅拉班的女儿中为自己娶妻。

以扫看见以撒祝福了雅各，又打发他去巴旦-亚兰那里娶妻；并见以撒祝福雅各时，吩咐他说：“你不要从迦南的女子中娶妻”；又见雅各听从了父母的话，往巴旦-亚兰去了；

自雅各从巴旦-亚兰回来后，神再次向他显现，祝福了他。

——以上是莉亚在巴旦-亚兰为雅各所生的儿孙，不包括女儿狄娜，子孙共有三十三人——

约翰也在撒令附近的艾嫩施洗，因为那里水多。众人纷纷而来受洗。
