以掃因他父親給雅各祝的福，就怨恨雅各，心裏說：「為我父親居喪的日子近了，到那時候，我要殺我的兄弟雅各。」有人把利百加大兒子以掃的話告訴利百加，她就打發人去，叫了她小兒子雅各來，對他說：「你哥哥以掃想要殺你，報仇雪恨。 (cunpt)

萬軍之耶和華說：「我要差遣我的使者在我前面預備道路。你們所尋求的主必忽然進入他的殿；立約的使者，就是你們所仰慕的，快要來到。」 (cunpt)

或是一個王出去和別的王打仗，豈不先坐下酌量，能用一萬兵去敵那領二萬兵來攻打他的嗎？若是不能，就趁敵人還遠的時候，派使者去求和息的條款。 (cunpt)
