It was also called Mizpah, because he said,“ May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.

耶和華的靈降在耶弗他身上，他就經過基列和瑪拿西，經過基列的米斯巴，又從基列的米斯巴過到亞捫人那裏。

亞捫人被召來，在基列安營；以色列人也聚集，在米斯巴安營。

於是耶弗他與基列的長老同去，百姓就立耶弗他作他們的領袖和指揮官。耶弗他在米斯巴將他一切的事陳述在耶和華面前。

眾祭司啊，要聽這話！以色列家啊，要留心聽！王室啊，要側耳而聽！審判將臨到你們，因你們在米斯巴如羅網，在他泊山如張開的網。

撒母耳說：「要召集以色列眾人到米斯巴去，我好為你們向耶和華禱告。」他們就聚集在米斯巴，打水澆在耶和華面前。當日他們禁食，說：「我們得罪了耶和華。」撒母耳在米斯巴作以色列人的士師。

於是亞撒王向猶大眾人宣佈，不准任何人推辭，吩咐他們運走巴沙修築拉瑪所用的石頭和木料。亞撒王用它們來修築便雅憫的迦巴和米斯巴。
