那一天，以色列人处境很窘迫，因为扫罗叫众人起誓说：“不等到晚上，不等到我向敌人报了仇，就吃食物的，那人必受咒诅。”所以众民都没有尝过食物。众人进了树林，林中地上有蜂蜜。他们进了树林，看见有蜂蜜流出来，却没有人敢伸手取蜜入口，因为众人都害怕所起的誓。约拿单没有听见他父亲叫众民所起的誓，所以伸出手中的杖，用杖头蘸在蜂房里，转手送进口里，他的眼睛就明亮了。众民中有一个人说：“你父亲曾经叫众人严严地起誓说：‘今天吃食物的，那人必受咒诅。’所以众人都疲乏了。”约拿单说：“我父亲连累了这地的人。你们看！我尝了这一点蜂蜜以后，我的眼睛就明亮了。

现在你既然渴想你的父家，一定要回去，为什么又偷我的神像呢？”

说：“我的弟兄们，请不要作恶。

拉班就带着自己的众兄弟追赶他，追了七日的路程，才在基列山把他们追上了。

在你仆人当中，无论在谁那里搜出来，谁就要死，我们也要作我主的奴仆。”管家说：“现在就照你们的话作吧，只是在谁那里搜出来，谁就要作我的奴仆，其余的人都没有罪。”于是，他们急忙把自己的布袋卸在地上，各人打开自己的布袋。管家就搜查，从最大的开始，查到最小的。那杯竟在便雅悯的布袋里搜出来了。

当时拉班剪羊毛去了，拉结就偷了他父亲的神像。

看哪，我在这里！你们只管在耶和华面前，以及在他的受膏者面前，作证指控我：我夺过谁的牛？抢过谁的驴？欺负过谁？虐待过谁？从谁手里受过贿赂，以致我的眼睛因此被蒙住呢？如果有，我必偿还给你们。”他们回答：“你没有欺负过我们，没有虐待过我们，也没有从谁手里取过什么东西。”撒母耳对他们说：“今天耶和华在你们中间作见证，他的膏立者也作见证；你们在我手里没有找到什么。”他们说：“愿他作证。”

免得有人因为我们经管的捐款太多，就毁谤我们。因为我们努力去作的，不仅是主认为是美的事，也是众人认为是美的事。

我派到你们那里去的人，我藉着谁占过你们的便宜？我劝提多到你们那里去，又派了那位弟兄一同去。提多占过你们的便宜吗？我们行事，不是同一个心灵吗？不是同样的步伐吗？你们一直以为我们是在向你们申辩吗？我们是在基督里，当着神面前说话的。亲爱的，一切事都是为了建立你们。

日后你来查看我的工资的时候，我好对你证明我的公道。凡在我手里没有斑点的山羊，或不是黑色的绵羊，都算是我偷来的。”

亚伯兰就对罗得说：“你我之间，切不可纷争；你的牧人和我的牧人之间，也不可纷争，因为我们是至亲。
