你思家心切，一定要走，但你為什麼要偷走我的神像呢？」

對他們說：「各位弟兄，請不要做這種邪惡的事！

於是，他帶著族人去追趕，追了七天，在基列山區追上了雅各。

你若在僕人中任何人身上搜到銀杯，他就要死！我們也要做我主的奴僕。」管家說：「好，就照你們的話做吧！銀杯從誰那裡搜出來，誰就做我的奴僕，其他人都沒有罪。」於是，他們急忙把口袋卸到地上打開。管家就從最年長的開始搜查，最後在便雅憫的口袋裡搜出了銀杯。

那時拉班正在外面剪羊毛，拉結偷了父親的家庭神像。

如今我站在這裡，你們只管在耶和華和祂膏立的王面前為我作證，我奪過誰的牛？搶過誰的驢？欺騙過誰？壓迫過誰？收過誰的賄賂而徇私枉法？如果有的話，我一定償還。」他們答道：「你沒有欺騙、壓迫過我們，也沒有拿過任何人的東西。」撒母耳對他們說：「耶和華和祂所膏立的王今天為我作證，我沒有拿過你們任何人的東西。」他們說：「是的，耶和華為證。」

我們這樣做是為了避免有人挑我們的不是，因我們經手的捐款數目可觀。無論在主面前或在人面前，我們務求行事為人光明磊落。

請問，在我派到你們那裡的人當中，我藉著誰佔過你們的便宜呢？我懇求提多去你們那裡，並派弟兄與他同去。難道提多佔過你們的便宜嗎？我們行事為人豈不是心靈相通，步調一致嗎？你們一直以為我們是替自己辯白，其實我們這番話是在基督裡、在上帝面前說的。親愛的弟兄姊妹，這一切都是為了造就你們。

以後，如果你在給我作薪酬的羊群中發現白色的綿羊或沒有斑點的山羊，就算是我偷的。這樣你可以知道我是否誠實。」

亞伯蘭對羅得說：「我們不該彼此爭執，我們的牧人也不該互相爭執，因為我們是骨肉至親。
