Then Rachel said,“ God has vindicated me; he has listened to my plea and given me a son.” Because of this she named him Dan.

Then Rachel said,“ God has stood up for my rights. He has listened to my prayer and given me a son.” So she named him Dan.

Then Rachel said,“ God has judged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan.

Rachel named him Dan, for she said,“ God has vindicated me! He has heard my request and given me a son.”

Rachel said,“ God has vindicated me; yes, he has heard me and given me a son,” so she named him Dan.

Then Rachel said,“ God has vindicated me, and has indeed heard my voice and has given me a son.” Therefore she named him Dan.

And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.

Rachel said,“ God has vindicated me; yes, He has heard me and given me a son,” and she named him Dan.

Vindicate me, O God, And plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!

O Lord, You have seen how I am wronged; Judge my case.

“ Dan shall judge his people As one of the tribes of Israel.Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the horse’s heels So that its rider shall fall backward.

Know that for Your sake I have suffered rebuke.Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, Nor did I rejoice; I sat alone because of Your hand, For You have filled me with indignation.Why is my pain perpetual And my wound incurable, Which refuses to be healed? Will You surely be to me like an unreliable stream, As waters that fail?Therefore thus says the Lord:“ If you return, Then I will bring you back; You shall stand before Me; If you take out the precious from the vile, You shall be as My mouth. So Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said,“ The Lord has surely looked on my affliction. Now therefore, my husband will love me.”Then she conceived again and bore a son, and said,“ Because the Lord has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also.” And she called his name Simeon.She conceived again and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.And she conceived again and bore a son, and said,“ Now I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she called his name Judah. Then she stopped bearing.

The son of Dan was Hushim.

So I got a sash according to the word of the Lord, and put it around my waist.

“ Therefore I will scatter them like stubble That passes away by the wind of the wilderness.

And of Dan he said:“ Dan is a lion’s whelp; He shall leap from Bashan.”

the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali;
