等到你哥哥對你的怒氣轉消了，忘記你對他所做的事，那時我就會派人把你從那裡接回來。我為什麼在一天之內要喪失你們兩個呢？」

其氣已平、忘爾所為、我則遣人召爾、奚為一日喪二子乎、

When your brother is no longer angry with you and forgets what you did to him, I’ll send word for you to come back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

你们说：“今天或明天，我们要到某城去，在那里住一年，作生意赚钱。”其实明天怎样，你们并不知道。你们的生命是什么呢？你们本来是过眼云烟，转瞬之间就消逝了。你们倒不如说：“主若愿意，我们就可以活着，作这事或作那事。”

当地的人看见那条蛇悬在他手上，就彼此说：“这个人一定是凶手，虽然从海里脱险，天理也不容他活着！”

婢女有两个儿子；有一天，他们两人在田里打架，当时没有人劝开他们，这个就击打那个，竟把他打死了。看哪！现在全家族的人都起来攻击婢女，说：‘你要把那击杀他兄弟的凶手交出来，好让我们把他处死，以偿他兄弟的命，也可以灭绝那继承产业的。’这样他们要使我所剩下的炭火也都熄灭了，不让我丈夫在这世上留下名字，或留下后代。”

流你们的血、害你们生命的，我必向他们追偿；无论是走兽或人类，甚至各人自己的兄弟，我必要他偿命。流人血的，人也必流他的血；因为神造人，是按着他自己的形象。

以撒说：“你弟弟已经前来，用诡计把你的祝福夺去了。”

人心里的谋算很多，唯有耶和华的计划能实现。

除非主命定，谁能说成，就成了呢？

该隐对他的弟弟亚伯说：“我们到田间去吧。”﹙《马索拉文本》缺“我们到田间去吧”一句，现参照其他抄本及古译本补上。﹚，该隐就起来袭击他的弟弟亚伯，把他杀了。耶和华问该隐：“你的弟弟亚伯在哪里？”他回答：“我不知道；难道我是看守我弟弟的吗？”耶和华说：“你作了什么事呢？你弟弟的血有声音从地里向我呼叫。地开了口，从你手里接受了你弟弟的血，现在你要从这地受咒诅。你种地，地也不再给你效力；你必在地上流离失所。”该隐对耶和华说：“我的刑罚太重，过于我所能担当。看哪，今日你赶逐我离开这地，以致我要躲避你的面；我必在地上流离失所，遇见我的，都要杀我。”耶和华对该隐说：“绝不会这样，杀该隐的，必遭报七倍。”耶和华就给该隐立了一个记号，免得遇见他的人击杀他。于是该隐从耶和华面前出去，住在伊甸东边的挪得地。
