Now there was a famine in the land— besides the previous famine in Abraham’s time— and Isaac went to Abimelek king of the Philistines in Gerar.

那时候，亚比米勒和他的将军非各对亚伯拉罕说：“凡你所做的事，神都与你同在。我愿你如今在这里指着神对我起誓，不要亏待我和我的儿子，以及我的子孙。我怎样忠诚待你，你也要照样忠诚待我和你所寄居的这地。”亚伯拉罕说：“我愿意起誓。”先前，亚比米勒的仆人霸占了一口水井，亚伯拉罕为这事责备亚比米勒。亚比米勒说：“我不知道谁做了这事，你也没有告诉我，我到今日才听到。”亚伯拉罕把羊和牛给了亚比米勒，二人就彼此立约。亚伯拉罕把七只小母羊另放在一处。亚比米勒对亚伯拉罕说：“你把这七只小母羊另放一处是什么意思呢？”他说：“你要从我手里接受这七只小母羊，作我挖了这口井的证据。”所以他给那地方起名叫别是巴，因为他们二人在那里起了誓。他们在别是巴立了约，亚比米勒就和他的将军非各起身回非利士人的地去了。

亚伯拉罕从那里往尼革夫迁移，寄居在加低斯和书珥之间的基拉耳。亚伯拉罕称他的妻子撒拉为妹妹。基拉耳王亚比米勒派人把撒拉带走。
