亚伯拉罕清早起来，拿饼和一皮袋水，给了夏甲，放在她的肩膀上，又把孩子交给她，就打发她离开。夏甲走了，在别是巴的旷野飘荡。

每逢以色列人撒种以后，米甸人、亚玛力人和东方人都上来，欺压他们；

你们中间作父亲的，哪有儿子求鱼（较后期的抄本多数作“儿子要饼，却给他石头呢？”），反拿蛇当作鱼给他呢？或求鸡蛋，反给他蝎子呢？你们虽然不好，尚且知道把好东西给自己的儿女，何况天父，岂不更把圣灵赐给求他的人吗？”

在以色列中没有王的日子，有一个利未人寄居在以法莲山地的偏远地区；他从犹大的伯利恒给自己娶了一个女子作妾。他的妾背夫行淫，离开丈夫，回到犹大的伯利恒她父亲的家那里去了，在那里住了四个月的日子。

那人的岳父，就是女子的父亲，强留那人，那人就与他同住了三天；他们一起吃喝，在那里住宿。

于是，拉结把自己的婢女辟拉给了雅各为妾，雅各就与她亲近。

他的家产有七千只羊、三千匹骆驼、五百对牛、五百头母驴，并且有许多仆婢。这人在全东方的人中至为尊贵。

雅各那夜起来，带着他的两个妻子、两个婢女和十一个孩子，都过了雅博渡口。

好叫你们成为你们天父的儿子；因为他使太阳照恶人，也照好人；降雨给义人，也给不义的人。

然而却未尝不为自己留下明证，就如常常行善事，从天上降下雨来，常常赏赐丰年，使你们吃喝充足，满心欢乐。”

耶和华啊！求你用手救我脱离世人，脱离那些只在今生有分的世人。求你用你为他们储存的充满他们的肚腹，使他们的儿女都可以饱尝，他们还有剩余的留给他们的子孙。至于我，我必在义中得见你的面；我醒来的时候，得见你的形象就心满意足。

亚伯兰在迦南地住满了十年，他的妻子撒莱，把自己的婢女埃及人夏甲，给了她的丈夫亚伯兰为妾。

亚伯拉罕又娶了一个妻子，名叫基土拉。

以色列在那地居住的时候，流本竟去与他父亲的妾辟拉同睡；这事以色列也听见了。雅各共有十二个儿子。

乌斯地有一个人，名叫约伯。这人完全、正直，敬畏神，远离罪恶。

利亚见自己停止生育，就把她的婢女悉帕给了雅各为妾。
